The day offers general dental practitioners an opportunity to learn about the advantages modern technology has to offer endodontic practice, while staying true to the primary goals of root canal therapy.

The workshop is designed as a blended theoretical offering with hands-on practical guidance through the following topics:

• CBCT aided endodontic diagnosis and treatment planning
• Microscope aided canal location
• Zarc Rotary instrumentation for canal preparation
• Cleansing the root canal system (Irrigation devices that aid solutions efficacy)
• Bioceramic Obturation and canal repair

More about the presenter:

Dr Ebrahim Patel is well known for his unique methods of endodontic training. His mission is to upgrade the endodontic offering of private and public clinics in South Africa, as he believes that South African clinicians are exceptional, and a critical influence in the communities they serve.

Dr Patel has experience in both undergraduate and postgraduate training at Wits University and is currently the clinical manager of the Wits Dental Hospital. He is also an endodontic consultant at the Thinc Clinic in Johannesburg which strives to offer their patients the finest dentistry has to offer delivered by a world class dental team. Dr Patels efforts to improve the science of oral health has seen the publication of his research both locally and internationally while being constantly sought after to address oral health professionals at workshops and conferences globally.

The 42nd Annual IMASA-FIMA Convention, held on August 10-11, 2024, at the Lord Charles Hotel in Cape Town, brought together medical professionals from around the world and local delegates to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices. The convention was a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in advancing medical excellence.

The convention had a profound impact on attendees, providing valuable insights and practical takeaways to enhance their practice. The event also fostered meaningful connections among medical professionals.

The IMASA-FIMA Convention 2024 was a triumph, demonstrating the organization's commitment to advancing medical knowledge and excellence. We look forward to future events that will continue to inspire and empower medical professionals to improve patient care and outcomes.

The Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA) was honored to host the 41st FIMA Council Meeting on August 7-8, 2024, at the Lord Charles Hotel in Cape Town. This prestigious event brought together a diverse international delegation of officials and observers from over 20 countries.

The two-day meeting provided a platform for attendees to share their projects and activities, facilitated by their local IMAs. Discussions focused on challenges, accomplishments, and future directions. Meanwhile, our female international delegates enjoyed tour trips around breathtaking Cape Town, hosted by our local members.

The FIMA Gala Dinner on August 7 featured an inspiring keynote speaker, Dr. Naledi Pandor, specifically requested by our international delegates.

Overall, the event was well-received by our delegates, who appreciated the opportunity to connect with colleagues from around the world and experience the beauty of South Africa.

It was a pleasure to meet our brothers and sisters from other countries and share our hospitality with them.
