The time has come for us to pass on The Winston torch. Damn, it’s been a rollercoaster but, hell, we’ve loved the ride!

The Winston Pub is such a legendary venue that has been the heart and soul of the Durban music scene for the past 28 years. Although being its caretakers for the last 10 years has been an exciting, incredibly special, fun and interesting journey, we’re now ready to hand over the keys and the responsibility.

Luke and I were extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to run such an establishment and be able to play a role in the local music and creative scene. A decade is a long commitment (but still far shorter than the previous owner, Belinda, at 18 years!) and we will forever miss all that came with being the owners - the good, the great, and even the sh*tty. We can certainly say we've seen it all! And more!

From local to international acts, and including almost all genres of music you can think of - we have fully embraced and enjoyed our time at “The Pub” with so many of you! The Winston Family is something special, so many insane and incredible memories made. The institution itself will forever be part of each and every one of us who have called it "home".

But before we say farewell and officially hang our ‘For Sale’ sign, we have planned one FINAL HURRAH! A classic Winnie Fest-style party lasting from Thursday through Sunday - packed full of bands, artists, music and artwork.

So… Join us for our LAST party - one LAST weekend to end our reign and our time at The Winston Pub! – Let’s celebrate, let’s dance, let’s headbang and enjoy one final mosh pit!

The final weekend will be comprised of 4 events over 4 days:

This is going to be a special weekend for us, so get your asses there, book your flights, plan your road trips, order that Uber and join us for one final soirée to celebrate the past and the start of a new chapter for us all… and The Winston.

It's with very heavy hearts that we need to announce the cancellation of all shows planned for December.

After getting the go-ahead to potentially open again, Matt booked a flight and flew straight home to work together with Luke to get the pub up-and-running and ready for action.

But alas, covid had other plans. The Omicron-related travel bans forced Matt to scramble back overseas for a job opportunity. Now with covid cases on the rise at an exponential rate in SA, we have had no choice but to lock our doors once again and hope that things will change in the new year.

At least The Winston is looking great and is READY to go!!

We are dying to throw some shows, so bands get in touch with us and let's make some plans for 2022! Holding thumbs!
