With just over four weeks to go until Durban's favourite weekend of cycling (and now also trail running) there is no time to waste for cyclists to book their place on the start line.
The road races on Sunday April 21st have full road closure and offer riders a choice of 110km, 42km or 28km, so there is something for everyone, from the superfit racing snakes, to those newbies looking for a gentle ride on safe open roads.
For the off-road riders, on Saturday April 20th there is now a gravel ride option of 48km, as well as the traditional three mountain bike routes over 40km, 20km and 10km.
All cyclists who enter any event before the end of March are guaranteed a free race shirt.
For the first time this year, trail runners can be part of the action with three run on Saturday.

ENTER TOUR DURBAN, GET THE T-SHIRT
The aQuellê Tour Durban shirts have started rolling off the production line, and if the reaction from J Sbu and Stacey are any indication, the design and quality is a winner.
The two presenters of East Coast Radio's Drive Show had a sneak preview of the shirt this week when Event Director Alec Lenferna visited their studios, and they were clearly impressed.
After riding the short road race in 2023, J Sbu will be taking part in the 42km event on the weekend of April 20 and 21 and is obviously excited to see the shirt he will be receiving for pre-entering before the end of March.
All entrants who enter in March are guaranteed a race shirt in the size ordered.

Save the date ! Sunday 18th Feb, Karkloof...
The Compendium Karkloof Road Race is one of few road cycling events hosted by a provincial cycling club. Burg Wheelers Cycling Club has been presenting road races in the Midlands for over thirty years, going back to the glory days of the annual Midmar-Notts Cycle races, which were loyally sponsored by Time Freight and Battery Centre. The event has moved a few times since then, largely due to roads becoming busier and less safe. For the past three years, the beautiful Karkloof Road outside Howick, has been ‘home’ to the Compendium Karkloof Road Race. For the first time last year, a new venue was used at ‘La Petite France’ (also the Karkloof Farmer’s Market) and proved very successful. The venue allows for sufficient safe parking and offers a relaxed setting post-race for clubs and participants to relax and socialise whilst enjoying the local cuisine and good coffee. Added to which, La Petite France is now licenced and participants can sample the new ‘breakfast beer’ post race !
Entry fees have been kept as low as possible and entrants can be assured of a well organised ‘value for money’ race on Sunday 18th February. Don’t delay, get your entry in soon on https://roag.org/events/event-info/4104/compendium-karkloof-road-race-2024

What an awesome evening! 2024 here we come.
A GIFT FOR THE CYCLIST (OR RUNNER) WHO HAS EVERYTHING
Are you stuck looking for a Christmas gift for your favourite cyclist? We all know how hard it is to find the perfect present for your husband, wife, daughter, son or significant other (or even that insignificant other who you sometimes just have to buy a gift for).
The aQuellè Tour Durban has the ideal idea to spoil that special person in your life. Why not get them a gift of an entry to Durban's favourite weekend of cycling (and trail running)?
You can choose to enter them in one of three road races on Sunday April 21st, and / or three mountain bike races and a gravel race on Saturday April 20th. And for the first time in 2024, the aQuellè Tour Durban Trail will give trail runners an opportunity to be part fo the fun on the Saturday (that sounds like gifts for the whole family).
To enter your favourite person into Durban's favourite weekend of cycling, simply go to ROAG.org and buy them an entry – but you will need to know their ROAG number. If you do not know their ROAG number, then email [email protected] and the race office will help you. Trail runners can enter at KZNTraiRunning.co.za
As an extra bonus, your gift to your favourite person will also be a present for the event's official beneficiary, The Domino Foundation. The Domino Foundation is a charity organisation that works extensively in distressed and needy communities through their various programmes, and all proceeds from the aQuellè Tour Durban go directly to The Domino Foundation to allow them to continue doing good for those less fortunate.
ROAD, MTB AND NOW TRAIL RUN
There is something for everyone at the 2024 aQuellè Tour Durban weekend.
The three road races will take place on Sunday April 21st while the off-road riders and runners have time for some fun on Saturday, April 20th.
The aQuellè Tour Durban MTB powered by Cycle Lab also gives mountain bikers a choice of three distances, with a short gravel ride catering for that fast-growing sector.
For the first time, trail runners at the aQuellè Tour Durban Trail will be able to choose from three distances to ensure the runners are now part of Durban's favourite weekend of sporting action.
The cycling entries are all via ROAG at https://roag.org/events/event-info/4097/aquelle-tour-durban while trail runners can enter through KZN Trail Running at https://kzntrailrunning.co.za/events/aquelle-tour-durban-trail-2024/

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Daryl Harris eats and sleeps cycling. The chairman of East Coast Cycling Club is also the owner of Cadence Cycling Performance Centre in Durban North and is now also a new trustee of the Club Cappuccino Trust (a peloton of cyclists who regularly beat sun-up for their Durban North rides and most of whom confess a caffeine addiction).
He is also a passionate participant of the annual aQuellé Tour Durban and as a trustee of Club Cappuccino also part of the organising team. Not only is Daryl an aficionado of all things to do with the two-wheeled, human-powered machines, but his heart is set on encouraging both seeded riders and social pedallers to take to the saddle in less than five months’ time for the 2023 iteration of the city’s iconic cycling event.
“Our intention is that it will be a ‘Family Fun For Everyone’ event”, he said. ”Families, clubs, school riders, road-racers and mountain-bikers across the board are welcome and will find we’ve catered for them.”
Daryl went on to say that there is a greater purpose to the pedal-power activities of the weekend of May 13 and 14 next year than simply providing a slick event for cyclists to enjoy. Once again, the event will donate the proceeds raised to The Domino Foundation, the Durban-based NPO which every day impacts thousands of vulnerable lives in the city through their ‘Cradle to Career’ interventions.
“We want to see Durbanites turn out in full support of their fellow eThekwini citizens, and also to have fun while doing so.”
