Look, I know we shouldn’t be tooting our own horn, but this transformation is worth talking about. Everything you see here was done by my team, and I could not be more proud. Our horticulture homies really went to work on this one with decking, gabion retaining walls, artificial turf and paving.

Where did this all even begin?

Family owned and run, Hardus, The Legend, took over from his Dad, Jan, in 1994. Jan started Durbanville Garden Services in 1990 with an old Mazda bakkie and no idea how long this would even be sustained.

Hardus took over in 1994 and had a team of 6 people working for him. He put his everything into this business and has managed to keep it running for the last 30 years successfully! Working through the night to fix machinery, running around all day making sure the gardens are in tip-top shape and eventually teaching his youngest son Eugene, all about the business too.

Hardus’ wife, Adré, managed the admin and they were one unstoppable husband-and-wife team willing to do anything to make this business work to make sure they can provide for their family.

And now, in 2024, exactly 30 years later - the Legacy gets his turn. Eugene Kruger has taken over (for the most part) so that Hardus and Adré can retire peacefully at their beach front home they have built for themselves. Eugene has been running his own Landscaping company for the last 5 years ( a lot of the photos posted here will show you the incredible work he has done) and now the two worlds have merged (and beautifully so!)

The last 30 years haven’t been easy, but we are more determined than ever to grow this business even more : more teams, more job opportunities and bigger dreams.
