The Surfing Midwife - Margreet Wibbelink from Sensitive Midwifery is one of the leading voices for natural midwifery in South Africa. And after incorporating dōTERRA essential oils into her lifestyle for health reasons a few months ago, she and I have even more in common than we realised 🤩

We spent a cosy late morning on her couch in Jeffrey’s Bay recently, chatting about self care and essential oils, particularly for birth professionals.

What is it About Birth? What is it about birth? It is as though time suspends itself and something unique unfolds from within the labouring woman. She has purred, sighed, breathed, whimpered, cried her way through her contractions, these life giving pains which make her rock her hips, make her moan and groan, make her eyes...

The blend is made up of Clary Sage, Ginger, Lavender, Aromatouch and Lemon essential oils. Add to a 10ml bottle then fill up with fractionated coconut oil. Apply to targeted areas / pressure points and massage well into skin to support efficient and powerful uterine contractions.

They told these stories and taught you to fear birth, to fear your power, to fear yourself. But you’re stronger and wiser than that mama. You know that birth is your divine dance, your soul’s song, your moment with God, and you walk fearlessly into her open arms”.

Home Birth Gathering in Cape Town This Coming Sunday! Last year we ran a series of interviews with each newsletter, showcasing the incredible midwives, doulas and birthkeepers who have committed themselves to serving women and their families choosing to birth at home.

It’s been a wonderful year supporting strong mamas through beautiful births - some which didn’t always go according to plan - but always...always... left me feeling honoured and privileged to have been able to walk that part of the journey with them.
