Our Story
Hunt Orthopaedics is an Orthotic and Prosthetic practice based in the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg owned by Paulani Hunt.
Orthotist & Prosthetist, Paulani Hunt, has over 20 years of experience in the profession, having completed her National Diploma in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics in 1999 and B. Tech Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2010.
Her diverse experience ranges from working in a government institution, manufacturing the hardwearing prosthetics (arms & legs) and orthotics (leg callipers, spinal bracing, as well as foot orthotics) suitable for any developing or rural area, to her experience working at the Military Hospital fitting high activity carbon and hydraulic prosthetics and mechanically advanced Orthopaedic appliances.
During this time Paulani has developed a special interest in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Prosthetics. This includes the manufacturing and fitting of customized bracing, both supportive and corrective and teaching children to walk again with their new legs.
Light weight customized knee bracing is also available for the active people who need more than a little support.
In addition to our customized manufacturing, we also offer the fitting of breast prostheses after the emotional experience of a mastectomy. Naturally, emotional sensitivity is high at this time in one’s life, but with Paulani’s kind, personal and emotional support, every patient’s experience has been a positive one.
Our other services include the fitting and supplying of ‘off-the-shelf’ items such as compression hosiery, wrist braces and hand splints, Foam walkers (moon boots) and ankle braces and also patient aids such as crutches, walking frames and commodes.
We will always do our best to turn your ‘disability’ into an ability to be and do anything you want to!
