At the launch of the 2024 EduCate: Matric Maths and Science Revision program at Standard Bank in Marshalltown, we celebrated 14 years of the EduCate program's dedication to creating quality revision materials for the entire Math and Science curriculum. This annual revision programme has supported learners nationwide in preparing for their maths and physical science exams, gaining access to tertiary qualifications, and equipping them with essential skills for a future in STEM careers.
We also launched the Liberty and Standard Bank Group co-funded Grade 12 Maths and Science tutorial programme, a ‘theatre of learning’ concept providing students with pre-recorded Mathematics and Physical Science revision tutorials in cinemas.
We look forward to seeing the students thrive through the programme💙.
This week is Money Smart Week—the week to be mindful of your finances and plan for your future.
We kick off Money Smart Week with the theme ‘Protect your money, secure your future’ with our own Sthembiso Nyandeni, Senior Manager: Forensics Investigation, discussing how to protect yourself against phishing emails, cybercrimes, and fraud as a consumer.
The theme highlights the significance of safe money management and taking a responsible and informed approach to personal finances. Being mindful of potential risks can help safeguard your hard-earned money.

The old debate about whether to buy or rent. My property vs. my landlord. Every scenario and everyone's needs are different.
Are you for renting or for buying?
Which option works for you? Let us know in the comments.
Our favourite teacher has passed away.
Today, we honour the life of William Smith, the beloved South African teacher whose televised maths and science lessons made learning accessible and engaging for countless students. In the 1990s, driven by his passion to help disadvantaged pupils, Mr. Smith started a programme offering free extra classes, convincing the public broadcaster to air them so every student, regardless of background, could access quality education.
Liberty’s partnership with Mr. Smith began with the Liberty Life Foundation in 1990, furthering his mission to uplift and empower young minds. His dedication helped many of us overcome challenges and achieve more than we ever thought possible because we truly felt as though he was in it with us.

How can saving and investing work together?
Saving and investing are different ways to achieve your financial goals. This approach enables you to financially protect yourself over the short and long term, especially in times of high inflation. Saving allows you to set aside money in a bank account for future use, while investing means putting money into assets like bonds and equities, which can grow in value over time. By having both savings and investments, you can ensure that you have money available for immediate needs and also have your money growing for the future.

The older we get the more we understand the sacrifices our parents made for us. While talking about moola may have been taboo back then, these days we must talk to our kids about money. The sooner they understand the value of money, the sooner financial independence becomes the generational norm.
Shoutout to the dreams they sacrificed—let them inspire you to secure your financial peace.
What steps are you taking to building your wealth?
Driving hope, embracing generosity, and changing lives… one meal at a time 💙.
We partnered with Rise Against Hunger Africa to pack 255,304 meals for Nelson Mandela Day. The food parcels will be distributed to early childhood development centers, feeding 1,110 children five meals a week for a year. This significantly exceeded last year’s effort of 190,080 meals, showing our ongoing commitment to combating hunger and supporting education. Our partnership with Rise Against Hunger promotes sustainable development within local communities.
We applaud the CSI team for organising another incredible act of kindness and gathering our Libertarians to roll up their sleeves for this worthy initiative.
This week on Season 2 episode 2, our financial experts break down the value of advice and the importance of developing good financial habits early on.

How can you manage your income and living expenses effectively?
Managing your income and expenses go hand in hand. They're two sides of the same coin 😊 – managing one helps you to control the other. A budget can help you identify your needs and wants, manage spending, contribute to savings, and adjust as your financial circumstances change.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to budgeting. Everyone's income, resources, and priorities are different. Tailor your budget to your income and lifestyle.
