✨OptoDerm is now available at Michelangelo✨
OptoDerm was started in 2017 by John Heath, who also founded Bionix, South Africa's first private biotech company, in 1981. Bionix created important cancer treatments called monoclonal antibodies and worked on advanced cancer therapies in the 1980s.
After selling Bionix, John led Zaptronix, a top tech company making parts for LED lights, which won awards for its innovative energy management systems.
In 2001, after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, John used special LED lamps to help her heal. This inspired him to develop new light-based treatments for skin cancer, leading to the creation of OptoDerm.
