Wish you a joyous Christmas & all the very best for the new year!
The nice thing on the Great Plains us that one can see far and spot animals quite easily as long as they are taller than the grass and when they settle on a termite mount, even better.
The big herds will be dominating the Great Plains in the Masai Mara very soon and with them the predators, the big cats, which is a time of exceptional photo opportunities!
Peak season at most of the safari destinations is about to start, being the best time of the year for amazing wildlife viewing and great photo opportunities. Enjoy! Happy travels!
Tree climbing lion are well known from Lake Manyara and Ishasha, but there is also an area in the Masai Mara where lioness are regularly seen spending time in a tree. It is the area on the base of the escarpment, a lovey place with great views over the plains, and with even better views from a tree.
It is one of the most impressive moments when driving with the open 4x4 safari vehicle in the dark, with the tracker shining with a spotlight while driving at the bushes along the path/road and suddenly pointing out that in one of the bushes is a Cameleon. The vehicle stops and everybody on the vehicle is asking “where?” then slowly some see it and eventually somebody has to get off the vehicle and point at the little creature in the bush that also the last sees it.
Imagine wilderness, an open 4x4 jeep, fresh air, the warmth of the sun and a young leopard day dreaming on a branch … imagine safari …
Have a wonderful Christmas!
The rains have been plentiful, the bush is green, providing lots of food for the plains game and fresh drinking water everywhere. The season of abundance has begun for all who call the wild their home.
The rains have startet and temperatures are rising, the bush has turned green and the wildlife is enjoying the fresh grass and water. Very soon the bush will be filled with baby animals and the seasonal birds arrive from the northern hemisphere. The time of abundance is on its way and the lush warm summer is just around the corner, a magical time in the wild.
There is a saying that guests have their “dedicated” special animal with exceptional sightings, which they will often see during their stay at each destination of their safari tour and that’s true.
This female leopard was constantly present during a stay for several nights in the Sabi Sand in South Africa and allowed insights into her daily struggles with hyenas trying to steal her kill (the hyena is sitting at the bottom of that tree and she is growling at it), the support of her daughter and the male leopard in her territory to help her survive (she was 17 at that time) and how she was a grandmother for her daughters son.
Seeing and also following the same animal throughout a stay can be very rewarding and allowing the most incredible sightings.
Venturing out on a safari is more than a holiday. Safari guests are essential for conservation and protection of the wilderness and it’s wildlife. Guests on game drives are ears and eyes on the ground, helping to keep animals safe from poaching. Guests contributions fund conservation, anti poaching, community projects and education to make sure also the next generation can view leopards in their natural habitat.
Spring has arrived and the wildlife is energised in anticipation of the coming rains and the bush’s awakening from winter. It is a great time to visit and to be part of the joy.
Often Zimababwe is only known for the Victoria Falls and Hwange, but there are much more unique destinations in this beautiful country like Lake Kariba and Mana Pools to name some … and all offer exceptional wildlife experiences.
There is one destination that is incredibly diverse, having all from Big 5 safaris to whales and seals, from mountain hiking to diving and surfing, from remote wild places to buzzing cities… this place is called South Africa.
Visiting the gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda is a magical experience of culture, landscapes and wildlife like nowhere else.
Zambia’s mighty wild places are mainly along rivers, beautiful majestic rivers like the Zambezi.
The ever exciting Victoria Falls are a great place to start off when traveling in Southern Africa. And there is more than just the falls. The mighty Zambezi River and the national park offer something special for everyone.
Imagine endless space, rich colours and variety with every mile you drive…. Imagine Namibia
Freedom is all what safaris are about: space, views, adventure, incredible animals and joy … the freedom of the wild.
This is the time of the year the great migration is moving into the western corridor of the Serengeti, in a country of great beauty and diversity… Tanzania.
Botswana’s different habitats offer a variety of safari pleasures and special moments… what to expect ..
