Have you been waiting to dance again? Join us this Heritage Day when we return to the rooftop at Arts on Main for a long-awaited return to our dance world.
We will also be celebrating art in the city with an art exhibition and live print demo by David Krut Projects. As well as a pop-up concept store by Nickel, showcasing South African designers and jewelry makers.
Food and drinks will be available, as well as a basic introduction to salsa for beginners.
We look forward to celebrating our heritage with you by celebrating art and self-expression through the form of dance, art and music!

Why Giveback not Giveaway?
Women's Month is often an opportunity to reward and grow social media followers by offering generous competition giveaways. Nothing wrong with that btw... show me a girl who doesn’t like a freebie & I’ll show you a hen’s tooth! This year though, we'd like you to join us in the movement. Read more in my blog in our bio...
Giveback not Giveaway
Our mantra is ‘When women support each other, incredible things happen’.
Join the movement this by sharing in our campaign.
This August, we’ve partnered with the Women’s Shelter in Johannesburg helping dispossessed and abused women become independent & resilient.
We were purposeful when choosing the Privacy Pouch as our Women’s Month product offer. We’re hoping to make a difference in ‘period poverty’ that so many South African women & girls endure each month.
By purchasing a Privacy Pouch during Women’s month you’ll make a difference when 100% of the profit of every product sold will be donated to the Frida Hartley Women’s Shelter. Buy one, buy two or more! Think stocking fillers, gifts and tokens of appreciation for this month and beyond

I know you’re still in lockdown living, but wouldn’t you just love this sublime silk & merino wool scarf?
What better way to start the week than sharing a random act of tiny gift giving.

Our Tuesday Tip...
1. Shopping Local online is so beneficial right now since many small businesses were forced to pivot sales online. So check if your favourite local has migrated online and feel free to share their best sellers, special offers & promotions with your contacts
2. Buy a Gift Card or Voucher to give friends & loved ones or keep for yourself to use later. Encourage friends & family to do the same
3. Start or follow a Network of Local Businesses who shine a spotlight on the best in local products and services. Here are some of our favourites , , , .cpt, , , , ,
4. Make a conscience effort to leave a positive review or testimonial on websites & platforms like Hello Peter, Google etc. Now more than ever online shoppers are using reviews to make informed purchasing decisions
5. Give Social media shout outs with likes, comments, reposts tags and shares. Many small business who were forced online need your help to build traction so your efforts boost post engagements that in turn lead to more visibility and sales
6. If you're a Corporate decision maker, source gifting ideas from local suppliers rather than corporate gifting companies who import merchandise from China and elsewhere

Our Story
We're an independent small business, 100% black-owned operating from our store in the eclectic arts space, Arts on Main, in the precinct of Maboneng Johannesburg. We operate without Government funding, bank loans or handouts. We source quality products from local entrepreneurs and designers - 91% are Black, 67% are Women. Most of our suppliers live in South Africa with about 10% coming from across the African Continent.
We take your Dollars, Euros and Rands and put them back into the local economy by supporting at least 50 small businesses who in turn employ local staff to produce the handcrafted products you’ll find here. So thank you for buying local & supporting our business.
Buying handmade in Africa does not mean buying cheap. What you’re buying has been created with limited resources and unlimited creativity, hours of hard work and years of failures. When you buy here, you’re giving our designers time to continue doing what they’re passionate about while they live with the realities of being self-employed.
Our suppliers send money home, provide for their families and grow their own brands when you support our business. We in turn pay rent, taxes & commissions and commit to finding more local designers to expand our product offering while growing our own business. We offer personalised service and unique products you’ll only find in this store.
