Today, staff, faculty, students, friends and family, came together as one for a memorial for the late Brian Moodley as well as a support session for Innocent Lekalakala and her family.
It is too often seen that in our daily lives we are so rushed for time and focused on the little things that, in the light of tragedy, the importance of cherishing those around us is really emphasised.
From the recent events, one thing is certain, we as BCMP are a family and will continue to support and love our family, from the current hardships to those which we may encounter in the future.
To the Moodley family, we continue to share our most sincere apologies and wish you nothing but strength in the passing days, months and years.
To Innocent and the Lekalakala family, we continue our love and support, we are here to be a shoulder to lean on and a friend in times when challenges seem far beyond our capabilities and comprehension.
Thank you to all in the Department of BCMP as well as Clinical medicine for all the time and support that has been put into helping the students, friends and families. Thank you to all the different schools for ongoing support and the sincere condolences and well wishes, we are forever greatful.
Latest news on Innocent's recovery ♡
Today Family, friends, staff and students came together to honour the beautiful person and soul Brian Moodley at an emotional funeral service this afternoon.
We continue to support his family through this difficult time and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. ♡
Hello BCMP students, staff and friends,
There will be two events in the next two days to bring us together in this most difficult time. Brian Moodley's Funeral is tomorrow, Sunday at 11:30, Johannesburg South. We will provide a bus round trip departing from Medical school at 10:00. Details of exact location to follow once made available for those who wish to self transport.
On Monday at 12:00, Medical School, (venue TBA) we will have an open gathering of students and staff to celebrate Brian and to come together to share in our support and concern for Innocent Lekalakala as she is currently being treated in the ICU from the car accident.
There will be no clinical sessions on Monday giving time to reflect, grieve and process this huge event which has touched all of us deeply and time for us all to come together and share.
All BCMP students, staff, family and friends are invited to both events. We need each other during this difficult and unexpected occurrence.
Innocent remains in our thoughts as we move forward, we wish her friends and family all the love and support through the difficult time♡

Message from the office of BCMP:
Hello BCMP students. It saddens us to tell you that two of our Yr 3 students were involved in a serious taxi accident on Friday afternoon. Innocent and Brian were traveling from Kopanong Hospital to Johannesburg when the accident happened. Unfortunately, it is with great sadness that we share with you that Brian Moodley died in the car accident. Scott and Dr Cooke met with Brian's family to provide support as best we could. Innocent is in the ICU, in critical condition at Bara Hospital and currently receiving very good medical care. Scott, Aviwe, Victor and Dr Cooke were at Bara Hospital to be with Innocent and meet her family who arrived to be with her. We have been in touch with Wits Senior Management and the Dean of Faculty, Martin Veller expresses the Faculty's condolences to the Moodley family and all our thoughts are with Innocent's family. Please SMS us or call us if you need to talk. All Kopanong students were accounted for last night. We are setting up a page in memory of Brian to express sympathies and a page for Innocent for students to express thoughts, prayers and wishes for a full recovery. Details to follow. We will be in touch with Brian's family regarding funeral arrangements and will share information shortly. This is a difficult time for all of us. Let us stand together in support of each other and in particular, the families of our dear friends. Kindly, Scott
