Last week our Production manager and the MD of our sister company Gecko Clothing visited the informal settlement around the corner from our warehouse. We were there to donate all the garments in the reject bin that had accumulated over the last year. All of these garments were rejected for various reasons. We are very pleased at the amount of lives we were able to touch after a freak fire burnt down several houses resulting in many people losing all their belongings. Turtle Creek Clothing aims to stand as global citizens in solidarity during this Pandemic.

Products and Services Offered

Turtle Creek Clothing offers a comprehensive product range of readily available stock items as well as bespoke uniform garments tailored to each individual customer’s requirements. Our golf shirts and sports shirts are manufactured in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The factory being a vertical factory, imports the yarn, weaves and dyes the fabric and then produces the garments. The factory can produce some 8000 units per day. Turtle creek clothing carries approximately 30000 units in stock over 20 styles with up to 8 colours in a range. The lounge shirts are produced in a SADEC member state as well as in Kwa- Zulu Natal, whilst the blouses, trousers and chinos are also produced in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Turtle Creek imports the fabric for various supplier in India and China and then has the garments CMT (cutting, manufacturing and trimming) in a factory that is garment specific in order to insure the quality in consistent with the brand .Custom uniforms are designed in house, manufactured in various CMT houses located in and around Johannesburg as well as Kwa-Zulu Natal.

An in-house embroidery service is offered to our customers with the capacity to brand 15 garments at any given time. To accommodate the work volume associated with bulk orders, we ramp up the staff complement with casual employees as well as being able to run a full day shift and night shift should the need arise.

In addition, we are able to offer an employee entitlement service to our corporate customers whereby each individual’s order is hand packed by our production and dispatch team. Clothing alterations are done in-house in order to cut down on delivery time.

Printing is outsources to a specialist textile screen printer, which was started in 1987. We have a long-standing trusted and reciprocal relationship with this organisation for two main reasons: a) print quality is unsurpassed as all orders are personally over seen, b) the highly skilled staff over 30 years’ experience.

Equipment, Facilities and Infrastructure

Turtle Creek Clothing PTY Ltd owns all the assets used for its day-to-day operations these include the Office furniture, ICT equipment, software licenses, office automation equipment, embroidery machines, sewing machine, over locker, delivery van and a 3-phase generator. The premises from were Turtle creek operates of owned by Graham Mckenzie

The eight head embroidery machine is a Tajima; the six head and single head embroidery machines are manufactured by SWF. The sewing machine and over locker manufactured by Harrison.

Pulse Version 14 is the software used by our embroidery department to transform a JPEG or PDF logo into embroidery data.

Sync Solutions software is used to manage each step of the production process as well as the stock on hand.

QuickBooks software is used for all billing and accounting related matters.

Experience and Knowledge

Most recently, we completed a two-phase national distribution for Imperial logistics, throughout 11 different cities. Each employee received an individually packed uniform hamper containing eleven uniform items with the ordered size. In the past similar projects were done for the likes of Sanitech and Bid Serv Laundry Group (First Garment Rental).

Turtle Creek Clothing supplies uniform items to Fastway Couriers franchises, Top T Ceramic stores, ITEC franchises and OBC Chicken franchise owned stores. To simplify the ordering process each contract customer has its own virtual catalogue and easy to use order form, which stipulates pricing, terms of business.

Financial Status

Turtle Creek Clothing is a financially sound organisation and chooses to own rather than lease the company assets. Graham personally approves all purchases thus avoiding any unnecessary spending.

The company banks with First National Bank Randburg and audited by Ronfin Financial Services.

At Turtle Creek Clothing, we see ourselves as a significant contributor to the South African clothing and textile industry. By making use of locally sourced fabrics, skilled technicians and labour, we are actively contributing to the revival of this industry in South Africa.
