My longtime friends Erik & Lucien are returning to SA for nine shows. I last saw them at The Copper Bar where they brought the house down with their unique infection brand of ethno jive- When was the last time you experienced an eVOID gig? Or heard "Shadows", "Taximan", or Danced the Instinct with "I am a Fadget" live? Some of you may even remember dressing up as “fadgets” and queuing up for hours outside the Chelsea Hotel in Hillbrow, or recall the varsity tour in 1984 at the Stellenbosch Town Hall when the floor caved in, from everyone jumping up and down to “Shadows”!

Found a box of photos from my time at Tusk Music that I haven't seen for nearly 30 years. This was taken backstage at the LA Forum just before the Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage. L-R Benjy Mudie, Dave Navarro, Anthony Keidis, my fellow Tusker ,the late Arnold Mabunda, and Chad Smith. Flea came into the room but fled because there were too many people there. Arnold, bless his soul, had never been to a rock concert before and when the band came out blasting and Flea took all his clothes off and stage dived , he turned to be and said " You mlungus are crazy" !

Sad to hear of the passing of guitarist Wayne Kramer of the revolutionary MC5. Along with fellow Detroiters Iggy and the Stooges and early Alice Cooper, the MC5 set America alight in 1969 with their brand of fiery anti-establishment sonic rock and trailblazed the road to the emergence of punk six years later. I was a snotty 15-year-old that year, literally living in Melody`s Record Bar in Benoni where i consumed copious amounts of music from pysch to blues to folk to `underground`. Their debut album "Kick out the jams" was the audio equivalent of an atomic bomb going off, not a sound for namby pamby popsters! I still have the album and when i feel the need for a shot of adrenalin and to punch my fist in the air, the MC5 provides part of the soundtrack
