In Memoria: Olivia Jasriel
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Olivia Jasriel, a valiant shield maiden who has now ascended to Valhalla. Olivia, the runner up for last year's Christa Swart Girls On Fire Fighting Spirit Award, was a beacon of courage and advocacy.
Olivia's unwavering commitment to justice led to the prosecution of Bob Hewitt, and her legacy extends through The Jasriel Foundation. Through this foundation, Olivia provided vital support to thousands of traumatized victims, offering hope and healing where it was needed most.
Girls On Fire extends our heartfelt condolences to Olivia’s family and friends during this difficult time. We acknowledge her recent transition of The Jasriel Foundation to new management and wish them continued success in carrying forward her impactful work.
Olivia's spirit and dedication will remain an inspiration to us all.

During the last week's court appearances in the QCTO v PFTC matter it became clear that the State and PFTC had different definitions and understanding of what "enrolment" for training courses entailed.

QCTO and the Minister understand firearm training qualifications as if they were University degree courses, where enrolment takes place anything up to a couple of years before the studying actually starts.

PFTC has an "Enrolment Date" on their Learner Management System which is only filled in once training is complete and the Accredited Training Service Provider is ready to print out the Statement of Results.

Big difference in understanding and application.

What we learned last week is that any new changes the Minister or QCTO may impose will not necessarily affect students already enrolled for training, but may prevent new students from enrolling for training. Any already enrolled students, according to the understanding of the Minister and QCTO as their evidence in court goes, are good to complete their training even after (or in the case that) the training qualification expires.

In other words. If you're already on an enrolment list when disaster strikes the training qualification (as happened on 30 June), you're good.

Consequently Tac SHAC Training will begin from tomorrow (the 15th of July 2024) enrolling prospective new students for fi****ms training. We understand that not everyone will want to take up this enrolment now, or in the future, and that not everyone has the funds available right now to pay for future training. We are therefore setting up the prospective enrolment at a small fee (R50.00) just so you can keep your name on the list.

We estimate that in terms of the order won last week, and the State's intention to challenge that order, we have a narrow window of opportunity open to us.

GOSA Girls On Fire: Basic Introduction to Long Guns:
For women – ALL Instructors are female!
Exciting news! You, have been asking for this one: Girls on Fire in conjunction with Steel Challenge Practice will be presenting the first of our “Introduction to Long Guns” courses later this year. During the course we will be concentrating on Self Loading Rifles (SLR), Shotguns and Pistol Calibre Carbines (PCC). The session will start with a classroom session where we will be discussing the different fi****ms in detail, followed by a range session with 3 different Steel Challenge Stages. Each of the different fi****ms will be represented at a different Steel Challenge stage. You will then shoot 10 shots – 2 Steel Challenge strings per firearm.
