Hear from one of our past BYMers on how the event shaped their future prospects and perspectives:

The BYM was not just a summit. The whole process reaffirmed a sense of self-worth that was awakening in me. From reading the posters, to the interview, the selection letter, and finally the actual summit, the full journey was memorable.

As a refugee, the BYM not only opened my eyes to the big wide world while I still believed it was for others and I was an outsider, it also offered me a deep sense of connection to South Africa, and the reality that it is a solid spring board for me to become all I wanted to become in the world. I could dare believe.

And at the BYM Summit, I wasn't just observing. I was one with all. At the same dinner table as the actual leaders of South Africa in various sectors. And there, crucially, the nucleus of what became my massive social capital was formed. Until now, almost 17 years later, I can still feel the irreversible impact of the BYM Summit on my evolution.
