The varieties to choose
Globally, maize is known as the queen of cereals because it has the highest genetic yield potential among the cereals. Consider maize varieties like ZS242 Orange, SC419, SC555, SC659, SC727 white for a bumper harvest.

ONION GROWING 💰🌰
• Planting onions is fairly easy, and with a little bit of preparation, you can grow flavorful and healthy onions in your garden. Here are the general steps to follow:

1. Choose the right time: Onions can be planted in the spring or fall, depending on your climate. In general, onions should be planted when the soil temperature has reached at least 50°F (10°C).

2. Prepare the soil: Onions prefer soil that is rich in organic matter and well-drained. You can add compost, aged manure or other organic matter to the soil to improve its fertility and texture.

3. Choose the right variety: There are many different varieties of onions to choose from, including yellow, white, and red onions. Make sure to choose a variety that is well-suited to your climate and growing conditions.

4. Plant the onion sets: Onion sets are small bulbs that can be purchased from a nursery or garden center. Plant the sets about 1 cm deep and 7cm apart, making sure to space them evenly in rows.

5. Water and fertilize: Onions need regular watering, especially during dry periods. Water the plants deeply once or twice a week, depending on the weather. You can also fertilize your onions with a balanced fertilizer every two to three weeks during the growing season.

6. Harvest the onions: Onions are ready to harvest when the tops begin to dry out and fall over. Gently dig up the bulbs and allow them to dry in a well-ventilated area for several days. Once the outer skins are dry and papery, the onions can be stored in a cool, dry place.

By following these steps, you should be able to grow flavorful and healthy onions in your farm.
