Are you aware of your responsibilities under the Workmen’s Compensation (COIDA) Act?

Here's what you need to know:

Registration Requirement: If you're an employer in South Africa, it's mandatory to register with the Compensation Fund within seven days of hiring your first employee. This requirement applies to all types of employers, including households that employ domestic workers, gardeners, nannies, caregivers, drivers, and more.

Statement of Earnings: All employers, including contractors, are required to submit a statement of earnings paid to their workers. This statement should cover the period from the beginning of March to the end of February.

Submission Period: The submission period for the statement of earnings is from April 1, 2024, to May 31, 2024. Make sure to comply with this deadline to avoid penalties or legal complications.

Ensuring compliance with the Workmen’s Compensation Act not only protects your employees but also safeguards your business from potential liabilities. Stay informed and fulfil your obligations to maintain a safe and fair workplace environment.

📢 The income tax filing season for the 2023 tax year (March 2022 to February 2023) is upon us and will open on 7 July 2023.

📢 The deadlines for submission of income tax returns for individuals and Trusts are as follows:
➡Non-provisional taxpayers: 23 October 2023
➡Provisional taxpayers: 24 January 2024

⏩For companies, close corporations and other organisation types, the deadline is 12 months after year-end. Income tax returns for these entities with a February year-end will have to be submitted to SARS by 29 February 2024.
