NECROSIS IN CHICKENS !!

Necrosis in chickens, particularly necrotic enteritis, is a serious condition primarily caused by the overgrowth of the bacterium Clostridium perfringens types A and C. This disease is most common in young broilers and sometimes laying hens.
Key Points about Necrotic Enteritis:
•Causes: The disease is triggered by factors that disturb the intestinal microflora, such as infections (e.g., coccidiosis), dietary changes, or high-protein diets.
•Symptoms: Chickens may show signs of severe depression, reduced energy levels, diarrhea, and sudden death. Often, the disease progresses rapidly, and the only noticeable sign might be an increase in mortality.
•Diagnosis: Postmortem examination of the intestinal mucosa can confirm the presence of necrotic enteritis. The mucosal lining will show necrotic tissue.
•Treatment: Antimicrobial medications in drinking water are commonly used to treat affected flocks. Preventative measures include managing coccidiosis and avoiding certain feedstuffs that promote bacterial growth.
•Prevention: Ensuring a balanced diet, maintaining good gut health, and providing necessary supplements and vitamins can help prevent the disease.
