On the 4 October 2024, we held a skills training induction for the October-December 2024 intake. The purpose of the event was to familiarize new beneficiaries with Lesedi la Batho’s culture, services, introduce them to the staff, and explain important rules and regulations. We were honored to host special guests from ABSA, Standard Bank, and AVBOB, who provided valuable insights into their services and helped beneficiaries sign up for their products. Representatives from the Department of Social Development (Black Like Me) also shared a brief presentation on the importance of self-awareness, while Open Disclosure highlighted their services aimed at combating drug abuse in the community. Additionally, our valued partners from the Community Media Trust (CMT) shared information about the programs available to beneficiaries during their skills training sessions

On 20 September, the little ones joined the Heritage Day celebrations at Mabopane Indoor Sports Centre! 🎉 They showcased the beauty of our diverse cultures through traditional food, song, and dance. 🍲🎶💃 It was a vibrant day filled with pride and joy as we celebrated our heritage with all ECD centers in Mabopane under the Direlang Bana Forum!

As part of last week’s topic in our third-quarter plan, the little ones participated in Occupation Day at our day care. They excitedly dressed as their future career heroes—doctors, firefighters, teachers, and police men and women—proudly showcasing their dreams and ambitions for the future. It was an inspiring day!

while we continue to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in every field, let’s shine a spotlight on the Lesedi Strikers- a dynamic female soccer team driven by passion and determination. Under the inspiring leadership of Coach Khensani Masilela, these talented athletes exemplify the true love for the sport, pushing boundaries and breaking barriers with every game. This women's team not only develops soccer skills in the youth of Mabopane but also empowers them through Life Skills training. By equipping them with essential tools to navigate life’s challenges positively, the team helps these young individuals grow into contributing members of the community. Their dedication and spirit remind us of all that greatness knows no gender. Here is to the Lesedi Strikers for showing us the power of perseverance and the joy of the game.

On Women's Day, Lesedi la Batho in collaboration with Hands Igniting Hope Organisation hosted an empowering event dedicated to supporting and uplifting our young mothers. The day was filled with insightful sessions focused on career guidance, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, all aimed at equipping these women with the tools and knowledge they need to build brighter futures.

Our career guidance session provided practical advice on navigating the job market, enhancing skills, and pursuing educational opportunities. Financial literacy experts shared essential tips on budgeting, saving, and managing finances, ensuring that our young mothers are better prepared to achieve financial stability. The entrepreneurship workshop inspired and motivated participants to explore their potential as a young female business owner, offered guidance on how to start and grow their own ventures.

This Women's Day event was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful opportunity for our young mothers to gain valuable skills and insights from other young women that will help them thrive both personally and professionally. The event also included refreshments and giveaways. Thank you to the events planning team, all guest speakers our volunteer; Oratiloe Thipe, Miss North West teenager Semi-finalist and the attendees.

Women’s day is a public holiday that commemorates the 1956 march of approximately 20,000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the pass laws that were part of the apartheid system. The day honors the role of women in the struggle for freedom and gender equality, and it highlights ongoing issues related to women's rights and empowerment.
