Turning up the Heat
On Nando’s International Grillers’ Challenge competition day in Botswana, things were hot! Competition was fierce, standards were high, and Grillers had their work cut out for them.
The team of international judges had their work cut out for them, and we say halalala to Nando’s newly crowned Master Griller Odirile Kabomo from Nando’s Botswana. Coming in second was Griffin Mtonga from Nando’s UAE, and Zimbabwe’s Oliva Matarirano came in third. Although they didn’t make it onto the podium, South African Grillers flew our flag with pride, brought their courage, grilled with passion and performed like the champions they are.
Well done to the Nando’s Grillers from around the world who gave it their all to win flame and glory. Not everyone could take home a trophy, but they could enjoy the experience of a lifetime in this exciting competition that’s all about upskilling Grillers to grill the best PERi-PERi Chicken in the world for our customers to enjoy. Next year, we’ll be lighting the flame in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Every year, Nando’s top Grillers from around the world attend the International Grillers’ Challenge to compete for flame, glory, and the coveted title of Master Griller. Top South African Grillers Silindokuhle Mafenuka from Nando’s Umlazi Mega City, Johannes Malatji from Nando’s Eagle’s Landing, Ndivhuwo Shilling from Nando’s Thavhani Mall and Anele Ntambo from Nando’s Cape Gate DT were welcomed to Botswana – the venue for the 2024 competition – in style. Ahead of the competition on Thursday 12th, the Grillers and their support teams will enjoy a host of activities, including going out on safari, seeing the Victoria Falls, getting up close with big cats at Mukuni Big 5 and enjoying a sunset dinner cruise on the mighty Zambezi. Talk about firing it up!
