Midrand Primary Arts Department at it again | AWSUM School News 22/05/2019

Midrand Primary Arts Department at it again | AWSUM School News Midrand Primary entered items ranging from Visual Arts, Music and Drama items. Our Marimba Band made up of learners Reatlegile Mphake, Mokgethoa Mabusela, Bokang Rangata, Lesego Bapela, Shandukani Mugwena, Rearabiloe Masilo, Ponelo Nkala got an A++ symbol, and Reatlegile Mphake an A+ in solo piano.

Closing the Pretoria Eisteddfod last Saturday our Marimba Band lead by grade 6 pupil Reatlegile Mphake scored and A++ AT Cornwall Hill Music College while at the Unisa Little Theatre the drama club won the Best Choral Verse Trophy with "Come With Us" taking the trophy away from long time holders PRO-ED Private School and again won the Best Primary School Drama with they one act play "At Last" a trophy which was won by Cornwall Hill College last year. the group verse "Come With Us" will have a fight of their life on the 29 May 2019 at the Roodepoort Theatre during the Final round NEA Young Performers Awards, this group had to walk through fire to get to the finals after they had to compete with one of the best drama schools in gauteng Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld of Kempton Park last week Wednesday we wish them all the best "GO BREAK A LEG"

Once again our Speech and Drama Club was at their best again this yesterday at the Johannesburg Theatre during the Arts and Culture Fest 2019. Grade 6 pupil Onam Sithole obtained an A+ with her Monologue presentation "12 Years Wise" and grade 7 Ndivho Hlungwani A+ WITH HER MONOLOGUE "Joan of Ark" and grade 7 duet acting done by Lwandle Ngcobo and Ndivho Hlungwani A+, the highest score achievers in this category was the new Choral Verse Ensemble "Fatherless Children" that scored an exceptional A++. "Fathersless Children" was also the winner of group Verse speaking item early this year during the Speech and Drama College SA Johannesburg Festival. Learners Kuhlekonke Nzimande, Onam Sithole, Mannedi Motshabi, Luniko Faye, Qalo Likhesa, Zoe Brand, Ngwanatheko Nkopodi, Damela Mojapelo, Ndivho Hlungwani, Lwandle Ngcobo and (captain) Pfunzo Maiwashe perform in the verse. The you very much to the teacher Mr Jokozela for assembling such an energetic team

Our Visual Art Learners got their first Adjudication of the year yesterday at The Johannesburg Arts and Culture Fest , Grade 4 pupil Mogau Sekgele obtained and A in Painting, Grade 5 pupils Loago Moeng B+, Ifeoma Izunobi an A Lerato Kekana A, while grades 7's Nhlanhla Gama obtains an A in Abstruct art, Simele Nsele an A in Pencil drawing and Oabile Moeng scored the highest with an A+. Among the NEA Young Performers Awards Semi Finalists is our Speech and Drama Group Captain Pfunzo Maiwashe receiving our ticket to the Finals of this prestigious competition, Our Choral Verse Group "Come With Us" won the Best Group Item at the competition and also was Voted the Audience's Choice item. The final round of competition will take place at the Roodepoort Theatre (Main Theatre) on the 29 May 2019. We wish them all the best in this regard

Results from the Pretoria Eisteddfod and Johannesburg Festival as they keep pouring in

Dramatic Arts Items:

1. Lwandle Ngcobo Obtained an A+ for her Unprepared Story-telling, an A+ for her Monologue "Making Up Stories" and A++ FOR HER Solo Verse Poem " Fatherless Children"

2. In a Duologue Scene performed by Lwandle Ngcobo and Qalo Likhesa they obtained another A+.

3. Choral Verse Group "Come With Us" performed by: Ndivho Hlungwani, Onam Sithole, Qalo Likhese, Luniko Faye, Pfunzo Maiwashe, Ngwanatheko Nkopodi, Damela Mojapelo, Lwandle Ngcobo, Kuhlekonke Nzimande and Zoe Brand the learners were the item winner with an A++ AND HAVE BEEN INVITED BY THE ORGANIZERS TO PERFORM DURING THE EISTEDDFOD AWARDS TO BE HOSTED ON SATURDAY THE 17TH MAY.

4. at the Joburg Theatre our learners presented a one act play "At Last" and obtained a B

2. Reatlegile also obtained a B in in Solo Piano at the Joburg Theatre.

All learners and staff members will get together to clean up the school on Friday, 20 July 2018 in commemoration of Mandela Day. Learners are encouraged to bring buckets, plastic containers, rubber gloves and rag cloths. Learners are required to bring their books for the first five periods of the day. All learners are advised to wear their old clothes suitable for cleaning and working purposes around the school.

Our learners put on wonderful performances at our school concert held in April 2018. Parents can now place orders and make payment for the DVD at a cost of R50. ANNUAL PYJAMA DAY 2018

We are excited to observe our annual pyjama day that will be held tomorrow, 01 June 2018 at a cost of R10. Learners who pay must come to school dressed in their warm, woolly pyjamas. Doughnuts will be sold on the day at a cost of R5.
