The 11th Steering Committee (SC) Meeting for IFNA was held on 6 March 2024 in Rome, Italy. The main agenda for the meeting was to share the progress of 2023 and plan for 2024.
In the morning, we had a workshop towards "Post IFNA" and the SC members presented their priority areas/activities of Food and Nutrition security. There was fruitful discussion both meeting and we will work together for the year of 2025!

IFNA Secretariat with the Tanzania Food and Nutrition Center implemented the 3 days training for the Nutrition officers of 26 regions from 6 to 8 February in Dodoma, Tanzania🇹🇿

Wrapping up an enriching 3-day session with AUDA-NEPAD, EAC and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Our engagement was all about empowering participants with the tools & insights needed to apply multi-sectoral nutrition-sensitive strategies within the framework of national food & nutrition security policy. 7 countries produced action plans of each country and started way forward!

The Africa Climate Summit 2023, took place in Nairobi, Kenya, between 4-6 September 2023, hosted by the Government of Kenya.

JICA Kenya office, in collaboration with KOICA held a side event on 5th September 2023, on ‘Remodeling Resilience approaches to food and nutrition security, livestock production systems and water provision interventions to enhance communities’ resilience to climate change in Africa’s drylands’.

During the side event, presentations were done by Ms Ayako Mitsui, IFNuS project (JICA funded) deputy team leader; and Mr Mahboob Bajwa (Deputy representative, UNICEF Kenya).
IFNA regional consultant, Ms Angela Kimani, participated in the panel discussions, focusing her responses on approaches that can be adopted to enhance sustainability of water supply and food and nutrition security in pastoral communities.

🇲🇿IFNA Fact finding mission in Mozambique🇲🇿

IFNA Secretariat team visited Maputo province in Mozambique from 14 to 18 August.

The main objective of the mission is to create the concept of IFNA pilot project based on a half day training and field visits in Maputo.

The team members discussed the concept with the government staffs (counterpart) and developing partners, then requested the counterpart to produce a draft proposal of the project by their own.

IFNA team members are excited to start the new project soon!
