*EXECUTIVE CHAIRPERSON VISITS KZNCC HEAD OFFICE*
Monday, 29 July 2024
KZNCC Executive Chairperson, Bishop Nkosinathi Myaka today, the 29th of July 2024 paid a visit to the KZNCC head office to interact with Top Management and staff members.
The visit is in fulfilment of the Chairperson’s commitment to ensure alignment in the work done as well as promoting good governance and professionalism in the organization.
In closure, the Chairperson also encouraged the staff through devotion of which he quoted John 6. A whole hour was spent reflecting on the scripture as well as unpacking lessons for the organization's mandate and the "Christian family" at large.
"God meets us at our point of need; the miracle of feeding the 5,000 symbolizes God's provision and the need for trust in Him. It emphasizes the significance of yielding to God's will and challenges the notion that God never gives us more than we can handle", said Bishop Myaka.
We are looking forward to more engagements with the Chairperson.

Ahead of the 2024 National General Elections, 50 leaders today are gathered at Tropicana hotel in Durban in a conference of Civil Society Organizations in South Africa.
Central to this conference is Mediation & Conflict Management Training with Bishop Oscar Siwali, the Director of a non-profit organization, South African Development and Reconstruction Agency (SADRA). which specialises in facilitation, conflict resolution and among other things, mediation of commercial and community disputes. He has extensive experience in this sphere, having worked as an election monitor and observer in Africa, and connected with organisations managing elections, as well as religious leaders, academics, and members of civil society who share a vision of non-violence.
As party political campaigns slowly shift into gear in anticipation of the 2024 elections, so comes a great need to build up resilience against political violence and intimidation. This is the expertise of Oscar Siwali, a man who places himself in the centre of conflicts in order to guide people to peace. His expertise comes from many hours on the ground in hotspots across Southern Africa. His art is to use practical tools and conflict resolution methods to create peacebuilders out of ordinary South Africans.
The KZN Church Leaders' Group (KZNCLG) convened by the KZN Christian Council (KZNCC) have intervened in the apparent issue between the Traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu Nation, Rev Thulasizwe D. Buthelezi and the MEC for Economic Development, Hon Sboniso Duma.
Led by Cardinal Wilfrid Napier and Bishop Nkosinathi Myaka, the church leaders’ intervention was disclosed to the media on Thursday 18 April 2024 at a meeting in Maharani hotel-Durban to pray for peaceful elections on 29 May 2024.
Bishop Nkosinathi Myaka, the Executive Chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council told journalists that their intervention has been welcomed by both the ANC leadership and Rev Buthelezi.
“We have met with both sides but it is a matter that we treat very privately. We can only confirm that we had a meeting and both stakeholders are cooperating very well,” Myaka said.
He said that the church leaders wanted to make sure that there was political tolerance in KwaZulu-Natal.
Earlier this year, ANC Provincial Chairperson Mr Siboniso Duma caused an uproar when he grabbed the microphone from Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi as he was speaking at an event to commemorate the Battle of Isandlwana.
Cardinal Wilfrid Napier, the KZNCLG Chairperson said the engagement with political leaders is to make sure that the province doesn’t return to the era of political violence that left many people dead.
The church leaders also asked Buthelezi to arrange a meeting for them with King Misuzulu KaZwelithini. The Prime Minister during his input, proposed dates which are privileged to the KZNCLG.
Among numerous other issues the KZNCLG would want to discuss many important provincial issues, including avoiding political conflict as the country goes to the elections.
“We have seen some political parties giving extremely violent speeches using character assassination,” said Napier. “We call on our leaders to desist from those speeches because they can cause serious harm to human beings
The church leaders are taking part in the Independent Electoral Commission’s programmes to get political parties to sign peace pledges ahead of the elections.

In conversation with Church leaders...
The essence of Boesak's presentation today centred on how christianity continues to be used as a tool to subjugate people. Post 1994, there was hope that things would change, however we only witness a metamorphosis of the same. The call is for a Black Theology that transforms. The Church is no longer at the forefront of the struggle for the poor. It is no longer the watchdog. The Church today helps the state to implement its agenda rarely supports the cause for the grassroots citizen.
Prof Boesak further challenged Church leaders who give politicians a platform at the expense of the word of God.
KwaZulu Natal Christian Council delegation of 4 women leaders participated in a 3-day Zwelonke Conference at Gonubie hall, in East London.
Zwelonke is an ecumenical movement in collaboration with Eastern Cape-South African Council of Churches (SACC) which KZNCC is also affiliated to.
