HOW TO CREATE A VERTICAL GARDEN WALL
🌿 Select a spot that gets lots of sunlight and is easy to access for maintenance. Consider the weight of the wall and the plants when selecting a location.
🌿 Clean the wall surface to remove any dirt or debris.
🌿 Choose a material that can support the weight of the plants and is appropriate for your climate, eg. wooden pallets, PVC pipes, metal frames, and living walls.
🌿 Install a watering system for your plants, eg. drip irrigation, misting systems or hand watering.
🌿 Choose plants like ferns, succulents, and ivy, as well as foliage plants, strawberries, leafy greens, and herbs for your vertical garden.
Your vote is your voice. Make it heard.

A great home hack is to create an illusion of higher ceilings, which gives your home a feeling of grandeur. Simply do this by hanging your curtain rails much higher than the windows.

May is a delightful time for gardening in South Africa. Here are some tips to make the most of your garden this month:
🍂 Mulch your veggies: Use fallen leaves, compost, or straw to cover the soil around your vegetable plants.
💦 Regular watering: Keep a close eye on watering during dry spells, especially for new tender plants, recently planted trees, and shrubs.
🥬 Liquid fertilization: Feed your plants with a liquid fertilizer every two weeks. This provides essential nutrients for healthy growth.
🍁 Nutrient deficiency: If you notice yellowing leaves, stunted growth, or low fruit yield, consider soil pH. Adjust acidic soil using Wonder Dolomitic Lime to enhance nutrient absorption.
🥦 Vegetable Planting: beetroot, spinach, Swiss chard, broad beans, peas, and radishes.
🌿 Herb planting: oregano, basil, lemon grass, parsley, thyme, rocket, fennel, dill, mint, chives, garlic, and asparagus crowns.
🥶 Cover for frost: In frost-prone areas, start covering your vegetable garden at night to protect tender plants.

Have you ever opened a can of old paint and recoiled at the smell? The culprit is bacteria and mould. Once exposed to air, paint can become a breeding ground for these contaminants.
When stored properly, opened paint can last up to around two years. To test it, remove any paint film that may have formed and give it a stir. A simple swirl with a stir stick should result in a smooth, homogeneous mix. If your paint starts to separate or turns lumpy, it’s best to toss it.

A great way to modernise your home is to update old fixtures, like door k***s, handles, drawer pulls, and light switch plates. A lick of paint is another great upgrade.

This week is flying! What are your DIY plans for the weekend?
Ever wonder where sponge painting came from? Believe it or not, it's an ancient trick. Ancient artisans used sea sponges to create a marbled look on walls, and it was surprisingly affordable. This sponging technique wasn't just pretty, it was also practical. The random patterns hid flaws and gave a luxurious feel without the hefty price tag of real marble.
Fast forward to today, and sponging is still a popular way to add some pizzazz to walls. By using different shades of the same colour, you can create a dynamic, textured look that's anything but boring. It's like magic – flat walls transform into something with depth and personality.
