As we settle into February, popularly known as the month of love, I continue to discuss healing factors as outlined by Dr Kelly Turner PhD, author of Radical Remissions. Today we discuss the effect of suppressed emotions on our overall health and wellness. If you have ever felt a sense of “sick to the stomach” over a situation, and if this sensation is repeated again and again, it is not uncommon to eventually and ultimately be diagnosed with stomach ulcers and even cancer. This is an example of the impact our emotions can have on our physiology and biochemistry.
It is increasingly recognized that suppressed emotions can greatly influence the immune system and can result in cancer. Conversely, learning to release deep-seated emotions can lead to reversal and remission. While it can be really scary to approach suppressed emotions, it is well worth it because it leads to greater freedom and joy.
One of the ways to release emotions is to start writing. This can be by regular journaling or even writing books. Writing helps to transfer pain, frustration, resentment and anger out of your body and onto paper.
I would like at this juncture to refer to a dear friend, Tandaza Ntikinca, who helps people to heal when they deal with the effects of emotions on the body.
