Happy Freedom Day!
Today we commemorate our first democratic elections held on this day in 1994, a reminder of the amount of sacrifices many had to make for us to enjoy our freedoms today.

Assupol believes that a new pair of school shoes can help restore the dignity of a learner. This Human Rights Day, our school shoe campaign reached 3 schools in Limpopo and saw 350 learners owning new pairs of shoes as it is a human right. We are walking with the learners into realising their greatness.

The Assupol Pretoria team honoured the invitation to the TMPD Easter Road Safety Launch at the Carousel Toll Plaza on the N1, where the Executive Mayor of the City of City of Tshwane Cllr Cilliers Brink emphasised the need for calm on the roads including sobriety and cooperation.
Chief of Metro Police Yolande Faro emphasised respect for the uniform by both residents and law enforcers rated top of her message.
Assupol will continue to support those who serve the communities of South Africa.

Illiteracy is still an issue that South Africa is faced with. Assupol in partnership with Read to Rise tries to help address the issue by promoting youth literacy in schools from under-resourced communities. This is done through the Classroom Programme and encouraging book ownership to the learners.

In February, we visited Lekang and Nka-Thuto primary schools and engaged 347 learners in a Classroom Reading Programme and provided them with reading books to encourage them to read at home.

Assupol embarked on a school shoe campaign to provide learners from disadvantaged communities with new school shoes. We collaborated with the office of the MEC for Education in the Free State to provide school shoes to the learners at Ditlase, Eersteling and Phuthanang Primary schools.

Conserving water helps us conserve life. Using water efficiently today is essential for a sustainable tomorrow.
Here are some tips to help you save water this and beyond.
- Fix leaky taps. Even a slow drip can waste 30 litres a day.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth and save 9 litres.
- Water your garden after 6pm to reduce evaporation.
