If you know us, and you’ve been to Milner Fashion House - you’ll know that plants, flowers and gardens are a major source of inspiration around here.

We are forever filling our selection of glass vases with blooms and cuttings from the garden and blowing our flower budget at the corner flower shop.

Its not a surprise then that we decided on a purely botanical theme for our next table scape. It was an opportunity to source all our favourite flowers, discover fascinating new ones, cut liberally from our own garden and even scour the local green grocer for interesting veggies. The results are magical - in the way only nature can be.

Cobblers Workshops 16 summer series

While our parents spent years teaching us to “stop playing with your food!” - at this table it was encouraged.

We provided our guests with fresh slices of rye bread as a canvas and all the bits and pieces to build a gorgeous little artwork of an open sandwich.

For dessert, there were homemade lemon cupcakes and a selection of dainty flowers, meringues and fruit to create your masterpiece worthy of a patisserie window display.

It's time to reveal our next table setting... and this month the inspiration came from the happiest little vase in South Africa.

The moment posted this little guy we fell in looove! It was perfect for Milner Fashion House. Handmade by a South African artist, fun, and whimsical with little pops of bright colour. It reminded us of little pompoms or bright-coloured sweets - it invited us to play. It would be perfect as the centrepiece for our next table. A table celebrating the child-like wonder of creating just for the pure fun of it.

Swimwear Construction Class

Want to learn the tricks behind swimwear construction and design? This class is the perfect opportunity to learn how to source fabrics, and draft patterns for women's swimwear in all sizes and especially to add the details that differentiate your designs from the rest. You will learn how to produce an end product that's viable and market-related.

Gin tasting in the lovely Milner garden. Learn how to identify the different botanicals used in Gin Making. Experience how passionate Kelly is about her craft.

We are still not over the fabulous South Africa Fashion Pop-up from a few weeks ago. Our favourite designers, a beautiful space and loads of fun activities - what is better than that.

The next edition of our 2024 tablescape challenge… and we went in a completely different direction than the first table.

For this table, we looked for inspiration in 90’s minimalist fashion, especially from Japanese designers such as Yohji Yamamoto. Think a minimal colour palette and attention to detail in shapes and silhouettes and the repetition there off.
