I felt compelled to write something once I noticed a truck full of pigs and cows on their way to the slaughterhouse. In a allot of ways I felt sorry for the animals, not knowing what fate beholds the poor creatures.

I have been granted the privilege of spending some time with animals in the bushveld or in the wild, and never once did I experience the same emotion of sympathy towards them.

I am always emotional after a hunt, due to fact that animal gave his life to feed my family.

Being wild and free or free roaming must be a undoubtable privilege and necessity for any type of animal and / or species.

It is this above mentioned hunters mentality that drives and compels us as hunters to hunt ethically and grant the animal the rightful chance in its own habitat to either be hunted or to escape based on their own terms and conditions.

I will always continue to hunt the way I do, taking responsibility for the life I have taken, to respect the fallen animal and pay tributes, be thankful and respect the hunt as much as I possibly can.

I believe to fully understand the hunting experience, you have to realise that we are custodians of nature and the animals that roam the earth. A reminder of our history, our ancestors, and the passion we shared.

Being covered underneath a shiny blanket of stars, comforted by the heat of a fire, either sharing stories about a recent hunt, or appreciating the shades of green in a salad, we cannot deny the fact that we all have a higher connection with Mother Nature.

Top 3 grootste bok spesies in Suid-Afrika gejag, Baster Gemsbok, Swartwitpens en die Eland. Ek moet eerlik wees, die bosveld het die beste vir laaste gehou. Uit die veld geslaan en werklik verbaas met sy grootte.

Respek, en dankbaarheid is maar ‘n paar emosies om te noem. Dankie aan elke dier wat ek die voorreg gegun is om te jag, van naby te aanskou, die avontuur en die vleis wat ons kon geniet.

Top 3 largest antelope species hunted in South Africa, Roan, Sable and the now the Eland. I have to be honest, the bushveld saved the best for last. Humbled and truly amazed with his size and brute strength.

Respect and gratitude are just a few emotions to mention. Thank you to every animal I was given the privilege to hunt, witness up close, the adventure and the meat we were able to enjoy.

If I must try to explain,
The feeling is personal, unique, and yet so mutual, as if your soul rests, your humanity makes sense, and your heart vibrates at perfect frequency.
Hunting is no longer just hunting when you show respect, realize the privilege and your intention is pure, it has become a passion.
