Congratulations to Prof Trudi Joubert from the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering on her inaugural address with the title "Mixed-mode microelectronics." The inaugural address presented the microelectronics research that leverages process improvements into cost effective and innovative integrated circuits, contributing to scholarship to the fields of novel electronic components and the mixed-mode integration of analogue and digital functions.

Dr Rachel Kufakunesu, who recently obtained her PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology, is proving that women are increasingly making a difference in engineering. Read more:

Congratulations to Prof Charles Siyasiya of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering University of Pretoria who presented an inaugural address about advances in steel design and processing to curb greenhouse emissions. It was a very interesting lecture giving insight to where we are going in terms of transitioning from traditional steel to green steel production.

Emphasizing transdisciplinary research which allows an engineering student (or someone from drama, education, theology, chemistry, biochemistry, public health and more) to have actual impact and contribute to the malaria elimination agenda.
