To every beautiful woman in DASA... Happy Women's Day!

DASA is proud to have started an outreach programme at a school in Danville, Pretoria where we will use ballet as our tool to make a difference in the lives of these little girls. Currently there are 28 but we hope that this number will grow. Here are a few snapshots from the 1st class 2 weeks ago.

A FOND FAREWELL TO TWO GREAT DANCERS
Two of SA’s most celebrated ballerinas, Joburg Ballet principals Shannon Glover and Nicole Ferreira-Dill, have announced that they will retire from the stage at the end of the upcoming season of La Traviata-The Ballet at the Teatro, Montecasino in early August. Shannon’s retirement comes as she marks her 20th anniversary with Joburg Ballet while Nicole has been with the company for seventeen years. Both have enjoyed acclaimed careers in which they were showcased in many leading roles and brought distinction not only to Joburg Ballet but to ballet in SA.

Shannon Glover and Nicole Ferreira-Dill bid farewell to the stage as Camille in La Traviata-The Ballet, a role they both love and in which they have distinguished themselves in previous seasons. Shannon dances on Friday 2 August at 20h00 and gives her farewell performance on Sunday 4 August at 15h00. She will be partnered by Marlon Sales. Nicole Ferreira-Dill dances her only performance in this short season on Saturday 3 August at 15h00 and will be partnered by Bruno Miranda. These performances offer the public the opportunity to see Shannon and Nicole in a great ballerina role for the last time. They will be honoured onstage at the end of their farewell performances.

Dasa Dance Awards and Competition 2024

To our amazing Dasa teachers that took part in this year's Dasa Dance Awards and Competition, we are indebted to you for giving your dancers this opportunity and gift of dance. We are grateful for your unwavering support and dedication that played a significant role in making the event a remarkable success.

We want to extend our thanks to all the parents, supporters and spectators, your presence added joy and excitement to the atmosphere.

To all the dancers that graced the stage, we are grateful for your active participation and the positive vibes you brought, and for sharing your love of dance.

We would like to thank Ms Lesta Erasmus, who was not only a judge at the competition, but was the founder of the DASA Awards and Competition. She has put a lot of time and hard work into making this event the success it was. We are really so grateful to you for such an exquisite event. You are truly a big assest to DASA and all the teachers who are lucky enough to learn from you.

DASA students from LPD Studio of Dancing (Whilma van Der Merwe) had the privilege of visiting the USA during the June/July school holidays. They participated in the ADA Competition, attended workshops and had an exciting day in New York. Here are some lovely photos of their adventures.
