How INTENTIONAL are you about building your business? This was the subject of the talk I gave last week at the Gauteng gathering of Plumbers belonging to IOPSA I used the DGLPA framework i.e. Dreams => Goals => Learn => Plan => Action and asked them to rate themselves 1 to 10 on how well they were doing on each of these. A number of people came to me afterwards and said they had never thought about it this way. What is the Goldmine? π It's your old customers. Often the thought patterns are ... "My old customers know what I do, and where I am. My top tip for making sure you achieve the goals that you set. (Assuming that youβve set decent goals that is ...) MAKE YOUR GOALS VISIBLE π Many Business Owners struggle with implementing the plan they have drawn up to meet the goals they have set. There are many reasons why this happens, but I'm not going to dive into what these are today, However, β In the video I share why making your goals visible increases your chances of reaching your goals. I've seen this work time and time again with my clients who do this. Once a quarter my clients invest a full day out of their business and set goals for the next quarter and draw up a plan of action to reach them. Making their goals visible helps them stick to their plan of action and reach their goals! Our next 90 day goal setting and Action Plan development is on Wednesday the 17th August. GROUNDHOG DAY! "I think I was just probably in a tired space in my business, had plateaued on turnover and was just living Groundhog day ... you know just coming in every day, doing what operationally needed to be done and going home again. Caught in a rut of opening at 4:00 a.m. and closing at 7:00 pm. I had some ideas to grow the business but never set them down as things to achieve ..." Dimitri was running a very successful family owned business when we met but he recognised that he was in a rut and hired me as his business coach in March 2020, just before Covid hit. Has having me as his Business Coach worked for Dimitri? π. I had a blast presenting on Friday in person at the Harties Business Forum. As you can hear, a great, responsive audience. Thank you Bianca Botha and Tanya Steynfaardt for hosting me and Landi Els for introducing me on the day. It was great to reconnect with my old friend Dr Bernard van Vuuren Radical Innovation and meet in person some connections I have only met on Zoom networking meetings. During my talk I challenged members if they are not used to setting goals, to: - Set 1 business goal for June - Make sure they have an emotional connection to that goal - Set aside 15 minutes at the beginning of each week to decide what activity they will do this week to progress on their goal - Schedule that activity into their diary as early as possible in the week. πββοΈ. 5:45 pm Sunday evening. I felt strong on my 6km run. π€. Well ... I didn't look at my watch during the run but figured I was probably running at about 5:45 per km. When I looked at my watch after the run, it told me my average pace was 6:07 per km. My actual performance did not line up with how I felt I was performing. The same is true for running a business. You cannot only rely on how you feel you are performing, you need key performance indicators to objectively measure the business's performance. #lifelessons #realpeople #realresults #businesscoaching #ActionCoachAndy
