What does a school do when one of their own wins a silver medal at the Olympics? An educational outing is arranged, and it goes down in the history books! 🇿🇦

Over 250 pupils and staff filled busses and left Curro Hazeldean to OR Tambo International Airport on the 13th of August to welcome Bayanda Walaza, the first Curro Olympian, and the first South African to win a medal for South Africa at the Olympics while still attending school! ✨ Jubilant, our school walked in and filled OR Tambo with singing and gees, filling the media and onlookers’ wait for Team South Africa to arrive. From gold medalist Tatjana Smith to Benjamin Richardson, Team SA enthusiastically greeted our school and signed the South Africa flags the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture handed out! 🇿🇦 To add to the list, Minister Gayton Mckenzie took the time to talk to and take pictures with our staff and students, encouraging louder cheers for the pride of South Africa. Then, their friend walked out to celebration, but most importantly a hug from his mother, as well as family, best friend, coach, Head of Sport and Head of School, engraving this day as a memorable moment for all. ✨

It was a day that will not be forgotten soon, but the story doesn't end here... 🇿🇦
