New law requiring rear-facing car seats until the age of 2 goes into effect July 1 Starting on July 1, a new law will make it mandatory for all children who are two years old or younger to be in a rear facing car seat, or until they meet the minimum weight requirements for a forward facing car seat.

It was cold and rainy today. I had so.much.to.do. 🤯And I really wanted to be left alone to do it. Two other kids were sick. We had nowhere to be. It sounded perfect to me. This mama needed a BREAK. :)⠀

Oh, but the teen. The teen was bored. And antsy. And nothing was right. I felt myself getting agitated as his agitation grew. He followed me around complaining and airing his issues. I offered some 💡 ideas. I allowed for boredom. But then I stopped. I told him to get a board game. He set it up. I caught my breath. He settled down a bit. And we played. We chatted. We laughed.⠀

I am his safe space🙏🏼. I am where he comes to process all the feelings and thoughts. So many thoughts and feelings. Sound familiar?⠀

I share this to say that we need to be strong 👊🏻and be there for our kids. Let them come to us to process without fear or judgment--no matter what. It's not going to look awesome all the time. We're going to push them away sometimes. We're going to yell. Or retreat. We can come back around and regroup. We can seek them out and face issues together. ⠀
