✅ Monitor the volume of your conversations and NEVER shout across the office at each other.
✅ Keep personal telephone conversations brief and at a minimum.
✅ Only discuss personnel matters directly with specific individuals, superiors, and management – NEVER GOSSIP!
✅ Keep your personal workspace clean and neat at all times.
✅ Use discretion when displaying personal items such as family photos and mementos so as not to overdo, clutter, and obstruct your work area.
✅ Use shared areas with respect and courtesy - if you expect everyone you work with to clean-up after themselves - model that behaviour yourself.
✅ Beyond basic cleanliness, being a well-mannered member of an office community also involves crowd control - don’t hold high-volume meetings in the middle of an open-plan workplace.
✅ Be sensitive to scents and smells surrounding you.
✅ When eating at your desk or in shared areas, avoid foods with strong smells and aromas that will travel throughout the office.
✅ Dispose of empty food containers and other items where they won’t contribute negatively to the office atmosphere.
✅ Never take something from someone else’s desk without permission and ALWAYS return what you borrow.
✅ Don't cut through offices. Use the corridor or established aisles.
✅ Don't use anything that might be disruptive (e.g., a speaker phone or radio) without asking others whether it will bother them.
Remember: Even though we all come from different cultural backgrounds – when at work, a corporate culture should be followed.

☑ Connect with warmth and express empathy (keep calm and polite)
☑ Try to deal with the Customer(s) away from other Customers (in the case of a face-to-face interaction)
☑ Apologise even if it was not because of your own wrong doing (apologise for any inconvenience caused)
☑ Listen clearly and don’t interrupt the Customer while they are talking (give the Customer your full attention)
☑ Keep eye contact
☑ Never tell a Customer to ‘calm down’ as this will make them even more angry and upset
☑ Ask questions to gain clarity and avoid misunderstandings
☑ Get to an agreeable solution (do not make false promises)
☑ Take ownership of the situation and ensure that the situation is dealt with and resolved in a quick and effective manner
☑ Follow-up with the Customer to ensure they are satisfied with the outcome
