We recently produced a space management solution for a client in Murraysburg, Eastern Cape, with whom we have built a great relationship.

The client is developing three new wind farms in the area that will be running consecutively, with each wind farm consisting of 32 wind turbines.

Our units will be used as accommodation for the site staff, along with the necessary ablutions and offices they will need during a projected 13-month stay at the site.

Our solution created a comfortable working and living area for the workers, complete with all of the required facilities for those who will call this site their home away from home for the next year. The client was completely satisfied with our innovative solution to their challenge, specifically considering the remote nature of the location.

Ufudu Zambia our subsidiary company recently completed a project for Kansanshi Mine PLC related to their mining operation in Solwezi in Zambia's North West province, with the client requesting an audacious, never-before-seen office solution.

The modular 44.7m2 Ufudu cabin open-plan pit observation office was designed

and built to withstand the harsh mining environment while providing the comforts of a high end office space. The insulated interior comes complete with aluminium windows and air conditioning to allow those inside to work and observe in comfort regardless of the outside temperatures and conditions. The office unit, placed at the core of the mining operations doubles as observation tower with 180-degree clear views of the pit operations.

The outcome of Ufudu Zambia's project was a great success, with the excited client commenting: "Simply amazing!"

We are making excellent progress on our large office camp and an equally well-equipped accommodation camp at the 700-hectare solar panel farm in the Eastern Cape which we posted about a couple of months ago.

At that time, the site was empty and we were only beginning with our efforts to plan and deliver the camps at the solar farm, which will eventually provide alternative electricity and energy in the Eastern Cape, a region that is famed for its excellent solar potential.

In a matter of months, we have seen a barren campsite transformed into a fully functioning office space at the site, with the contracts signed off and the offices ready for occupation. Even the challenge of adverse weather conditions and snowfall in the Eastern Cape didn't stop us from sticking to our specified deadlines.

The office camp consists of 37 different units including kitchens, offices and ablutions which are fully furnished with office supplies such as desks and other elements including airconditioning and blinds on the windows.

The accommodation camp will feature fully furnished units with beds and bedding included, producing a comfortable and fully functional living environment that the workers can call home.

A great example of how these units can be customised to specific requirements was illustrated in a project our subsidiary company Ufudu Zambia Limited successfully completed earlier this year at Kico Mine in Kipushi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

They were tasked with producing a 119.20m2 male and female change house for use alongside a soccer field that was recently developed by the mine. The custom-built unit was fully equipped with robust, vandal-proof fittings to withstand the test of time and allow for secure usage as a change room for those using the soccer facilities.

Our container conversion offering is diverse and customisable depending on the needs of our clients, but we understand that often, when the requirements are not very extensive, simple is better and enables a more affordable solution.

We are currently preparing to assist Sasol with their annual shutdown for maintenance at their plants in Secunda. Ufudu Zambia, one of our subsidiary companies, recently completed a project with Mitchell Drilling Zambia Limited, a client with whom they have worked successfully in the past. This project required additional units to be brought in to facilitate an expansion of their mining exploration campsite in Chililabombwe, Zambia.

Last year, Ufudu Zambia supplied them with all the structures and amenities necessary to establish a fully functional site including accommodation units for junior, middle, and senior living quarters, a fully functional kitchen unit, a refrigerated container as a storage facility for all kitchen food supplies, a comprehensive set of ablution units consisting of toilets and showers with geysers and glass cubicles, and a fully functional site office space.

They recently contacted Ufudu Zambia and asked them to urgently fabricate and deliver two 6m Twin Cabin Offices on a lease basis to cater for their growing team on-site, which required more office space. The units included lighting, electrical points, airconditioning, flooring, windows and secure doors to create a comfortable environment conducive to productivity.

Regardless of the remote nature of the site and challenges in terms of the urgency required, these units were manufactured and delivered within two weeks of receiving the order, much to the client's excitement and satisfaction.

A great example of the long-term relationships we cultivate and our ability to bring our expertise to the table with follow-up solutions involved a recent project completed for a customer we initially assisted more than five years ago.

In 2019, we supplied our client in the Limpopo province with over 40 prefabricated modular accommodation units. The mobile cabins were stylishly furnished with the assistance of our client and delivered to the site.

Due to the remote location and our client's business involving providing unique five-star mobile safari experiences to VIP guests throughout Africa, our modular Ufudu cabins were chosen for their superior quality finishing and well-insulated wall panels.

Recently, our client contacted us to ask whether all the units could be uplifted, relocated, and refurbished. Thanks to the unrivalled mobility and versatile design of our modular buildings, as well as our extensive logistical resources, we swiftly assisted with the relocation and refurbishment of the entire collection of accommodation units at the camp.

Incredibly, the entire camp was relocated, professionally refurbished down to every minor detail, and ready for use in less than a month.

Over the past year, Speedspace has played a crucial role in assisting with the accommodation of teams working on the innovative Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project in the Northern Cape, ensuring that the many workers on-site have a comfortable, productive and functional home-away-from-home while working on this groundbreaking international collaborative project.

The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project aims to construct the world's largest radio telescope which is set to revolutionise our understanding of the universe and pave the way for scientific discoveries.

Speedspace's initial input in this project involved establishing, in partnership with PowerAdenco JV, a comprehensive 220-man camp for the dedicated support staff tasked with constructing the telescope bases and an extensive road network.

Located 70km from the nearest town of Carnarvon in the Northern Cape, the remote site presented unique challenges regarding accommodation and infrastructure.

Despite those challenges, we successfully delivered a range of modular units to meet the diverse needs of the project including 18m five-sleeper units, 18m four-sleeper units, eight convenient 12m shared-ablution dormitory units, seven well-equipped 6m male ablution units, 8 x 12m four-sleeper units, 19 practical 12m double three-sleeper units, and a range of other specialised containers and buildings.

With the project continuing to scale and the camp established and operational for some time (as pictured in this post), Speedspace has now been brought in to expand the accommodation camp with additional sleeper units to allow for the increase of workers who will call the site their home for the foreseeable future.

The brief required the conversion and delivery of 7 x 12m container ablution units complete with 60 toilets, 24 urinals and 52 water basins, and we are on track to deliver these for use at the venue.
