Debt review is a significant step. Once in debt review, you cannot get new credit until all debts are settled. Engage with a reputable debt review agency and understand the implications before proceeding.

Using home loan equity to consolidate debt can be risky. It might put your home at risk if you fall behind on repayments. If you consolidate, ensure all overdue instalments are included in the new debt balance.

Paying off debts with the highest interest rates first can significantly reduce the overall interest you pay. As you eliminate one debt, redirect those payments to the next highest-interest debt to speed up your path to financial freedom.

If you are at risk of defaulting on debt repayments, contact your creditors proactively. Ignoring debt won't make it disappear; it can lead to legal action and asset attachment and will negatively damage your credit score which is crucial to your future creditworthiness.
If you are contacted by a debt collection agent, engage! As debt collection agents, we can open channels and facilitate the discussion and negotiation with your credit provider for a restructure of your debt to more manageable repayments.

Hat’s off to our Top for June 2023. At Alefbet Collections & Recoveries, we’re incredibly proud of our people, and we consider ourselves privileged to work with a team of colleagues who always go above and beyond in all that they do. These are people who bring an incredible work ethic, professionalism and empathy to the people they are engaging with, and most importantly keep the wheels of our economy turning by collecting what’s due. Nelson Mandela said: ”What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
For Mandela Day, we dedicated our 67 minutes to the children at the The Lighthouse Baby Shelter where we got to spend time with them, playing and spoiling them with extra special treats, goodie bags and groceries. It was an incredibly special day, reminding us of the many seemingly simple ways that we can bring so much joy to these precious hearts. Never take simple acts of kindness for granted. Most of all, let’s make every day .
Peter Drucker said that ‘culture eats strategy for breakfast’. At Alefbet Collections & Recoveries, we believe that the best strategy is moot if your people don’t share a defining culture and values. The culture of an organisation is driven and led from the top – this is where the example is set - while our company values influence our culture and drives the ‘how, what and why’ of our business.
It’s one of the reasons why we dedicate focused time to defining, refining and driving these critical aspects in our business, and within our people. Last week, our Alefbet C&R Leadership team were put through their paces, ‘trapped’ in an Escape Room game where they had to find clues and solve a series of puzzles to escape before the time ran out. The crux of the exercise is to boost our team’s ability to work co-operatively, to solve complex problems and think out-of-the-box. We got to debate and refine our values by collectively defining our purpose and vision, inspiring action across all our colleagues by setting the example at the top.
We know that company culture and values will happen, whether we work on it or not. We choose to work on it, creating an environment for our people to thrive, to love what they do and why they do it. In so doing, we get to bring passion, trust, collaboration, curiosity and an enduring entrepreneurial spirit in all that we do for our clients and each other!

We are especially delighted that every learner has gone from unemployed, to now gainfully and fully employed in permanent positions within our business network!
Our leadership team got some serious inspiration and motivation following a workshop facilitated by the FutureFit Academy – one of our group companies in the Alefbet Group. The workshop was focused on development within the business, and about reinvigorating and revisiting our company values and culture.
Technology and AI are increasingly playing a huge role not only in our business, but in our personal lives and our way of work and learning. So it made perfect sense to put our leadership team through their paces with an exciting game called “Dawn of Disruption” – developed by SA innovation expert and futurist Dean Furman, which teaches players about the theoretical uses of AI, including the technology’s profit-boosting applications.
Each leader also worked through the Five Lens Report, and discovered more about their personality types and understanding the drivers and motivations behind their behaviours based on the .
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable and insightful day and a super motivated and amped leadership team ready to roll!
