Did You Know? 🐝👀

Bees have 5 eyes! If you've ever gotten close to a bee, you might have noticed three black dots on the top of its head—those are eyes too! 🌟

Here's a photo of one of the bees in my apiary. You can see her big compound eyes, unfortunately she flew away before I could get a closeup of her ocelli eyes.

🔍 The Bee’s Vision:

3 Simple Eyes (Ocelli): These are on top of the bee’s head and help detect light, allowing the bee to sense if a predator is approaching from above.
2 Compound Eyes: Located on either side of the bee’s head, these eyes are made up of tiny lenses that create a mosaic of the bee’s surroundings. They’re great at spotting patterns, helping bees identify plant types and recognize other bees.
Bees truly are fascinating creatures with incredible vision! 🐝✨
