Technical Estimator

JOB INFORMATION:
Our company is currently in search of a highly analytical and qualified estimator to join our growing business. Your central goal will be to prepare accurate estimate reports for projects by gathering information, analysing important metrics, and conducting regular risk assessments.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in mathematics and accounting, with in-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation systems. In addition to being an excellent communicator, candidates should also be detail orientated with outstanding organizational skills.

Reports To Operations Manager:

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics:

• Strong computer skills and good knowledge of relevant software applications
• Knowledge of project management tools.
• In depth understanding of project planning to facilitate costing.
• Good understanding and knowledge of various engineering contracts
• Previous projects or production environment experience / equivalent.
• Demonstrate good leadership skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong internal and external customer service
• Solid experience working directly with clients
• Confident presenting face-to-face with clients
• Self-starter and self-directed
• Ability to work under pressure.

REQUIRED COMPITENCIES

• Minimum 4 – 6 years Cost Estimation/Project Management/Planning experience in a
similar industry or relevant technical background.
• Proficient in relevant software including MS Office Suite.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Attend and identify suitable attendees for RFQ’s
• Responsible for the creation of complete detailed Scopes for Projects and Work Schedules.
• Support Project team in the planning phase of a project
• Breaking down each phase of the project and determining resources required (personnel, equipment, material)
• Do cost estimations, on each phase of the project
• Generating final and complete quotations/tenders for presentation to clients.
• Have an in-depth understanding of all cost items and variables influencing pricing.
• Review and report on project costs variances and improve the costing model.
• Produce cost estimations/quotations for emergency repairs (24 hrs) if and when required.
• Perform Project Management duties if required
• Monitoring project status and giving updates and feedback on timing and costs.
• Identify project risks and help mitigate potential problems.
• Monitoring lead times from suppliers.
• Active participation in Project Meetings.
• Review and approve/decline purchase orders on SAP
• Adherence to company’s SHEQ requirements
• Assure that a quality product is presented to the client through adherence to the company’s QA/QC procedures
• Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining accuracy of cost information
• Investigate and incorporate project constraints into cost analysis
• Produce cost estimations/quotations for emergency repairs (24 hrs) if and when required.
• Perform Project Management duties if required

Randfontein, Gauteng: AKATA recently announced the successful homologation and the formal introduction of the Blitz 3000X, a high-speed electric motorcycle. The Blitz 3000X is a 3KW electric motorcycle and offers a new way for commuters and delivery drivers to face rising fuel prices.
