This Freedom Day marks thirty years since South Africans from all walks of life meandered in queues to vote for the first democratic regime. WHAT A GLOOMY DECEMBER!

South Africans woke up to the saddening news of Zahara’s passing; Bulelwa Mkutukana aka Zahara was hospitalized about two weeks ago. The news of her passing was thus confirmed last night by the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Z**i Kodwa. She departs at the young age of 35.
She was a musical sensation who rose to fame when she released the hit track ‘Loliwe’ and went on to become a globally loved and celebrated songsmith.

As Tsogang, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Mkutukana family and friends, as well as her fans.

We are grateful to have been serenaded by her beautiful voice and that she shared her talent with us, what a rich legacy she leaves behind. We will miss her and her guitar!

Let communities lead!

Above is the motto for the 25th World AIDS Day commemoration. We ought not have the temerity nor be delusioned in thinking that we are invincible and immune to the adverse effects of HIV & AIDS. As communities, the power lies in our hands to mitigate the effects of, raise the awareness of, and to support individuals living with HIV, even those whose condition has progressed to AIDS; It is in doing so that we will see a decline in new infections - SA was purported to account for 20% of people living with HIV in the world, safer s*x practices, and the overall decline of stigmatization of HIV positive people.

Today also marks day 7 of the 16 Days of Activism against Women and Child abuse. The two are conjoined as s*xual abuse against women and a girl child exacerbates the prevalence of HIV & AIDS.

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the when the SAPS opened fire on protesting miners killing 34 of them. All they wanted was nothing more than the remuneration that's directly proportional to their labour.

May their unrelenting, all or nothing spirit motivate us to boldly fight for what we believe in - sowing seeds whose fruit shall benefit future generations!

On this Youth Day: Be Uncompromising With Your Future Motšha!

Anyone with the eye can see that the state of our country is continually deteriorating, thus the renaissance of the former much-envied South Africa rests heavily on the future of this country, its youth! Ignorance is no longer bliss for the youth, dismissing the ubiquitous social ills (the rampant nyaope abuse, escalated unemployment rate among youth, and GBV…) which are symptomatic of poor governance and lack of a clear vision, will be our biggest blunder.

Tsogang urges all to awaken the spirit of patriotism and ubuntu without which we cannot advance as a country having given into apathy, the reason so many young people aren’t clued up on politics – the irony is that the political atmosphere sets the standard for the quality of life we end up living. The “I don’t care” attitude is equivalent to giving away power, letting someone else determine your worth, the life experiences you’ll ever have, the education you and your children are entitled to, and so much more.

Motšha, be unrelenting where your future is concerned. Regret is a heavy price to pay. The youth of ’76 took matters into their own hands, refusing a mediocre education system, le wena gana go tshela botshelo jo bo sa jeseng diwelang.
