Our Story
Hartley’s was first opened by Mark Hartley on the 1st of April 1998. Originally, the building was a milking parlour, and behind the bar area, was the place where the calves were kept. It opened as a pub only but later, as the demand grew for pub lunches, a kitchen was added. The first item on the menu was T-Bone and chips and in those days the cost was a mere
R 28.00.
The food was so popular the Hartley’s menu grew.
After 6 years Hartley’s was sold. The name was changed and the atmosphere that the locals had grown to love was unfortunately lost.
The new tenants unfortunately did not last long before their business was closed. The building then stood empty for more than a year, when it was again rented out and opened as a Bistro.
This business too closed only after a short time.
Mark Hartley then decided it was time to bring back the old Hartley’s so loved by many.
Hartley’s was reopened on the 14th of February 2009. Now there is once again an establishment in Rustenburg that you can come to for that something special - be it the top quality food and service that we offer or just to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that surrounds Hartley’s.
Hartley's is owned and run by Mark and Rezanne Hartley. You will always find either one or both of them here. :)
