Lauren is a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and Kids Yoga instructor who has recently completed her 200-hour vinyasa teacher training. She brings a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering family connections through yoga. π§ββοΈπ§π§ββοΈ
We'll explore fun partner poses, breathing exercises, and mindfulness tools to create a harmonious family experience.

When we ask our children βHow was school todayβ, their typical answerΒ isΒ βOKβ, or βfineβ or βgoodββ¦
Instead of the usual βHow was your day?β , try asking more specific questions to spark meaningful conversations with your kiddos. β¨
Once they start speaking, make sure you listen to them without judgement and if they are sharing something that bothered them, try not to immediately reassure them or give them solutions.
Embrace an approach of βActive Listeningβ to create a safe space for them to open up - youβll be surprised at the stories theyβll share. π£π

We have all heard about or personally felt the benefits of yoga for our physical, mental, and spiritual health. π§ββοΈ
The sense of calm and feeling of strength post-yoga practice is undeniable. Yoga is a great activity for kids to try, whether it be done alone, in a group, or with the whole family.
Without a doubt, practising yoga on a regular basis will help your kids feel great and keep their bodies and minds in motion. π§ββοΈβ¨

Kids yoga is engaging, dynamic, and most of all fun!
During yoga children learn that itβs actually acceptable to move freely, laugh out loud, be creative and silly. There is no competition, just fun and games. Everyone is encouraged to participate at their own pace, and children quickly learn that nothing they do needs to be perfect, and that everyone falls and everyone gets up.
There is a ton of laughter and the environment is one of mutual love and respect. π§ββοΈπ«

Our theme for this terms kids yoga series has been GRATITUDE. π
Each week we go around the circle and share one thing that we are grateful for, write it on a little note and pop it inside our gratitude jar . π
A few weeks ago, there was one little munchkin who shared that she was grateful for her family and for her grandparents, but that her Ouma had sadly passed away last year.
Having recently lost my grandpa, we had a heartfelt conversation during our class about life and death and how we need to show our gratitude and appreciation for those we love while they are still with us but that we can also celebrate their life in special ways when they are gone.
She then had the most beautiful idea of writing a note to her Ouma in heaven and tying it to an βup balloonβ π₯Ήπ
The following week, she brought two white helium balloons to class, paper & pens. After class, we both wrote little notes to our loved ones in heaven. π€
As we stood together and watched our balloons flying through the sky, eyes filled with tears of both joy and sadness, my heart was absolutely bursting with love and gratitude for being able to share such a beautiful moment with this special child.

Inversions are the act of placing your heart above your head or going upside down. π€ΈββοΈβ¨
Children find inversions like headstands and handstands exciting and thrilling but often teachers can be a little hesitant to include them into their yoga lesson plans.
I believe we should allow our kids to learn and build confidence by taking risks in a safe environment and do βdangerous thingsβ carefully.
I recommend using a wall when teaching children these inversions, for extra support - but this competent little gymnast at was absolutely capable and confident enough to go upside down without the assistance.
Remember that safety is crucial when teaching inversions. There will always be some students that will try to whip right into a headstand as soon as you say the word so you must be ready for that and always have them watch first. Guide them through the pose step by step and allow them to see the proper technique so they can practice correctly and safely. π€ΈββοΈπ«ΆπΌβ¨
