The past few years have been tough across the world, but particularly for South Africans. Declining interest rates should make the world, including South Africa, feel a bit better, providing support for SA assets and the rand.

Electricity, rail and ports can’t be worse than last year, and despite government mismanagement, should show some improvement. But risks remain. Two wars plus elections – not only in SA, but also in the US – could darken an otherwise reasonably positive picture.

Join us as we welcome Jeremy Gardiner back to the SACSC Congress, to share insights on investment trends 2024, and talk about the social and economic landscape for local and global markets.

2024 SACSC International Tour - Day 1

The retail and shopping centre industry is a dynamic, fast paced and exciting one filled with situations where one needs to be able to be agile and adapt! We used those skills well today when the first flight after landing at London Heathrow was cancelled. The group did well, three different train groups, a plane group, a few tubes, taxis and change overs but all made it to the hotel by mid-day 😀.

We then got to explore The Trafford Centre in Manchester over 200 000m2 including the adjacent Trafford Palazzo which opened 3 years ago. We could see some similarities of centres back home.

The future of seamless payments is here! ️

Gone are the days of fumbling for cash or swiping endless cards. At SACSC, we're embracing the future of retail payment! Here's a breakdown of some trends that are replacing cash:

Scan & Pay: Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay services allow users to store their credit/debit card information securely on their smartphones and pay with a simple tap or scan at contactless terminals.

Tap to Pay: Tap your contactless credit card, phone or even your smart watch on designated readers for a speedy checkout experience.

SnapScan: Snap scan when you fuel up at selected petrol stations.

Loyalty Programs: Customers can simply scan their loyalty cards at checkout, which automatically deducts the payment and adds any loyalty points.
