L*D Open Team Getaway 2024 💚

The L*D Open team got together for the annual Getaway last week at Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa in Gauteng, South Africa. The event featured a strategy day, which outlined the plans for the coming year and beyond, followed by a team dinner, an awards ceremony and a social.

At the awards ceremony, Leisha Askham was voted L*Dian of the Year by her peers, and various other awardees were celebrated by the team. A big shoutout to the L*D Open Middle East team who took part in the day remotely from Dubai due to ongoing project commitments, and still had enough team spirit to make their presence felt.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Getaway. A big thank you to Kloofzicht Lodge and Spa for accommodating the team and providing the perfect backdrop for accelerating innovation.

The Getaway also provided the first opportunity to take a team photo this year!

🏁 Red Hat Summit Connect 2024 South Africa 🏁

Last week, L*D Open had the privilege of being a gold sponsor of and taking part in Red Hat's biggest event in South Africa. It was great to be around customers, partners and friends to learn more about the Red Hat partner ecosystem and what the landscape looks like in 2024.

On the main stage, L*D Open Chief Technical Officer Julian Gericke joined Red Hat's Tracy Lona and Group's Video-on-Demand Engineering Manager Hitesh Govind to talk about the incredible work going into Multichoice's modernisation project.

In a breakout session on the Virtualization Track, L*D Open's Chief Commercial Officer Deon Stroebel and Vodacom's Guido de Villiers took the audience through 's modernisation journey and shared valuable experience of lessons learned along the way.

At the L*D Open booth, visitors were engaged with Red Hat hashtag demos operated by the expert L*D Platform Team, and tried to set the fastest lap around the Red Bull Ring on the F1 simulators. The fastest lap of the day belonged to Heinrich Odendaal from Direct Transact, who took home the Icons Ayrton Senna McLaren set.
