From imagining one to actually capturing one, we've come a long way 🔥
The theory of black holes started in year 1784 when a natural philosopher, John Michell, speculated about an astronomical body whose escape velocity would exceed the speed of light so dense that not even a single light particle would be able to escape it.
However, the modern history of black holes began when physicist Albert Einstein first predicted the existence of black holes in 1916, with his general theory of relativity. The term "black hole" was coined many years later in 1967 by American astronomer John Wheeler.
After 235 years of speculations and theories astronomers were finally able to capture an actual image of black hole back in 2019 proving every claims of Einstein true.
We've come a long way from 1784 to today through consistent research and observations of black hole to gather the information we have about black hole.
