Primal Motion is a physical training and movement coaching service that offers improvements in movement quality, functional capacity and athletic performance.

The underlying idea is to make you as efficient as possible. This means that you move more, expend less energy, suffer less injury and live a happier and longer life – no matter how many kilometres you’ve already expended on your life’s odometer
Much like wealth accumulation and compound interest, consistent application of health habits and practices will pay dividends over the long term. We want you to think of this as “health wealth”.
Each day you should be making deposits into your health account (any elements from the Primal Pie) and minimize the debits leaving your account (bad food/drink, sedentary lifestyle, stress) and let compound interest take care of the rest.
Start small if you need to but commit to doing a little bit every day and you will gain momentum. As we’ve mentioned before, “it’s easier to stay on the horse and keep riding than it is to have fallen off and having to climb back
up again”!
At Primal motion we believe in making use of a variety of techniques and training modalities to progress our clients ability to build strength and handle heavy loads, these include: Calisthenics, Compound lifts and Interval training.💪
To enhance performance output and movement mastery you need to move efficiently and economically, in other words you must exercise control throughout the entirety of your movements.
Increasing your proprioceptive awareness will facilitate improved neuromuscular control and result in more fluid flowing movement, balance and co-ordination thus ensuring less adaptive compensation, energy expenditure and injury.
Primal Motion will promote movement control via segmental and global joint mobility drills, neuromuscular feedback and proprioceptive balance tasks and dynamic primal movement sequences.🤘

Most people dig their heels in when advised to reduce the amount of starchy and processed carbohydrates as this would mean giving up certain “comfort” food.
To live vitally you need 4 elements in your diet. Essential amino acids, essential fats, essential vitamins and essential minerals.
Carbohydrates are part of the equation because they deliver certain vitamins and minerals but they themselves are not “essential”.
Excess consumption of carbohydrates can cause a cascade of health issues starting with insulin resistance and resulting in Metabolic Syndrome.

We are surrounded on a daily basis by artificial things we’ve made. From the houses we live in to the cars we drive to the clothes we wear to the food we eat!
We are not suggesting that you move to the Yukon and live a self-sustaining “off the grid” lifestyle just to be healthy (but it would help)...

Who's on bunion patrol?
The foot is a severely neglected segment of the body and yet it is relied upon exclusively every single day to support and transport you around while being suffocated in inside shoes.
Don't take your feet for granted, liberate them, take off your shoes + wiggle your toes + walk on different surfaces and offer them different movement tasks.

When the foot pronates the forefoot abducts away from the body’s midline. In this moment the big toe follows the movement of the forefoot - away from the body’s midline.
A flatter pronated foot is known as a valgus foot. A bunion - although there do appear to be two types of bunion is known as a hallux valgus. Effectively a pronated toe.
A bunion is present where this movement of the toe (away from the body’s midline) is greater than it should be. It’s more valgus than it should be and we could suggest more pronated than it should be. In this case there is excess gapping at the first MTPJ (or big toe joint) - which is where a bunion is located as marked by the blue V on the image.
Foot pronation as you likely know is a specific shape in the foot created by the 26 bones and 33 joints in the foot. Each of the joints on the midline of the foot should open / gap as the foot pronates.
It is often the case that a bunion forms where there is excess opening in this joint. Excess opening of a joint appears to make up for a lack of such gapping at other related joints.
More often than not you can look one joint up in the midfoot at the 1st metatarso-cuneiform joint to find that it is unable to open (I.e. abduct). In order to generate the necessary motion of pronation in the foot, the toe must pronate more now due to the lack of pronation in the midfoot, and the gapping will thus be excessive creating an environment for a bunion. In this scenario, the bunion is not the problem but may actually be acting as a solution (giving you more at one joint to make up for less at another).
Can you get the joints of the midfoot opening in a pronation movement while mobilising the big toe joint to take the pressure off your bunion?
