Waterford Estate and The Salt Road Restaurant present a Seasonal Wine & Food Pairing, featuring comforting winter cuisine. Great wine paired with great food, make for a lunch worth sharing with your loved ones.
Hosted in our Tuscan-styled courtyard this offering includes three wines paired with three courses and a tasty dessert to end off.
The amuse bouche of freshly baked homemade bread paired with the Estate Chardonnay Single Vineyard 2020 followed by the starter of mushroom and ricotta agnolotti that blends seamlessly with the Waterford Antigo Bordeaux blend.
For mains, a hearty braised beef short rib is paired with the Waterford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and for dessert, the Italian classic in an affogato is served.

Did you know that South Africa has more Chenin blanc vineyards than the rest of the world combined? This beloved varietal is a cornerstone of our winemaking tradition. In honour of International Chenin blanc Day, weโve teamed up with The Salt Road to craft an unforgettable pairing experience, highlighting the unique character of our Waterford Old Vine Project Chenin blanc across various vintages.
Price: R175 per person
Our Chenin blanc grapes are sourced from old vines in Stellenbosch, planted in 1966. The wine is certified as part of the Old Vine Project, which aims to preserve older, less productive vines by showcasing the quality of wines they can produce. Berry bunches are hand-harvested and pressed directly into concrete eggs for natural fermentation. This process allows the wine to remain vibrant and truly express its distinctiveness. Extended lees contact adds luxuriousness by enhancing texture and mouthfeel.
