A Brief History of WFP: Who are we? The Women on Farms Project (WFP) works with women in commercial agriculture, mainly in the Western Cape Province.
The project grew out of a 1992 Lawyers for Human Rights initiative aimed at meeting the specialised needs of women who live and work on farms (farmwomen). Today, five years ago, Women on Farms Project (WFP) launched its Double Standards Pesticides Campaign, which initially targeted the South African government, demanding it ban 67 HHP already banned in the .
Yesterday, WFP organised a march with more than 200 women farm workers and dwellers to the German Consulate in Cape Town. Partners, Oxfam Germany, Oxfam South Africa and Farmers' Network South Africa, marched in solidarity and support of farmwomen's demand that the German government introduce a on the production and export of Highly Hazardous Pesticides by German agrochemical companies.
Over the last 5 years, WFP's advocacy on has also included targeting pesticide producer, , as well as lobbying politicians and officials in and .
In South Africa today, the health of farm workers and dwellers continues to be impacted, usually irreversibly, by exposure to deadly pestcides manufactured in Europe, but long banned in Europe. WFP's campaign demands an end to these racist Double Standards: if pesticides are harmful for Europeans, they are also harmful to South African farm workers and communities.

We are demanding that the German government immediately bans the production and export of all highly hazardous pesticides that are already banned for use on German soil. Germany cannot continue to export harmful chemicals that they deem too dangerous for their own people and land. ☠️🇩🇪
