Guardrail Installation Training

Highway barriers are one of the most effective countermeasures available and are intended to reduce the severity of roadway departure crashes. Roadway departure crashes account for more than 50 percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities

A primary goal of this training is to demonstrate the appropriate actions to reduce the severity of these crashes by using barriers and appropriate end treatments only when warranted and by selecting, designing, installing, and maintaining barriers for optimal performance when shielding an obstacle or terrain feature.

A rough use of stone and concrete in roadworks and landscaping to stop erosion. A layer of un-reinforced low strength concrete is laid and while it is still wet football sized rocks are place in it.

The idea is to embed the rocks enough for them to be firmly held but to create a rough surface to break up the flow of the water.
