One of the most rarest and difficult to hunt, blessed to have a third warthog in the "once in a lifetime" class
Tricky Headshot Blue Wildebeest Bull, had to wait to for the one behind to clear and biggest challenge here is to quickly identify male or female as both have horns and then negotiating a gap through branches, fun shot though...
Not a bad view lodge surrounded by buffalo herd with Marakele reserve and the 'Waterberg' mountains in the back ground...
Triggercam 2.1 first test, off the sticks wharthog Male 180m on 18 magnification,Swarovski scope,Steyer Mannlicher 25-06 100gr Barnes TTSX
For the love of buffalo,NOTHING compares to standing eye to eye with a cape buffalo upclose with almost always a sub 20 yard shot
Hunting fun with the whole family involved...
What a great safari with 3 buffalo in the mid 40's and even a 46 incher and our first red Nyala bull! Congrats to the hunters and nothing but great respect for hunting so hard in the heat and well deserved trophies, clients slept well back on the plane after such a hard hunt....

Scouting new Concessions, this a beast of over 20 000 Acres and of course sampled some of the species while exploring.
Firstoff was the wildebeest, whole herd was in very thick cover, with only the twitch of an ear here and there visible, through the scope I patiently waited for more info as I'm looking for a bull, finally aftersome time I could make out the thicker horns and then see abit of drop in the horns, tell tale signs its a bull, only needed to see the width in comparison to the ears through the puzzle of animals and dark thick bush...Scope magnification on 18 for a little small golfball size pocket through hundreds of twicks I saw his eye and suddenly as he swung his head to look away made out the last detail, horns well past the ears, squezed off a rushed shot and the BTTSX tip flew true through the dense scrub and hit the beast behind the ear with an elevated hard thump due to the silencer, I knew he was done.Had to use the winch to load him as it was only me and an observer.. 2nd was the 'wide horned' Impala,we were elevated above him, when he saw us and quickly ran for the deep riverine bush,I estimated a open spot in his path and as soon as he stepped in at a pace I gave a loud short whistle and sure enough he stopped in his tracks. Crosshairs magically fixed on his eys I fired very quick and with another hard thump as the high velocity 25-06 bullet made contact,I knew he is in impala heaven chasing does! The fun part about a headshot you can make the horns as wide as you like for the photo... Now it was the last impala,he was an old cunning boy and I quickly realised I would have to do some fancy tracking to get him as he ran off into the thick stuff where he feels save. Patiently I tracked his lone hard running tracks, easy to follow until it almost disapears and faintly with years of practice you can still track him knowing he is very close now...the more difficult the track the slower the animal is moving the closer you are,get your gun off your shoulder and be ready for a quick shot,in the thick stuff its gonne be close and quick... sure enough less than 50 yards we see each other at the same time when I rounded a termite heap,it was now or never,he was on high alert snorting and I can see his muscles tensing for the jump, off hand with rifle scope long ago dialed down to 6,and the first badly shaking croshhair to cross his broadside shoulder I fired.... the Barnes breaking a few twigs along the way found his target and I immediately lost him after the recoil and jump. This time no thump as it was to close to hear it,back to tracking and soon found some shoulder splinter bones and first bright.red splatyered lung blood and after a few more brush jumps and running through scrub,a tell sign he's in a death run I found the old male with a very large body. 3 hand loaded Barnes TTSX 100gr 25-06 did its work with the Steyer Mannlicher and Swarovskik 5 to 25 with a Sonic Silincer ,love this little rifle and have taken many eland as long as I use quaility tips its a large game killer no problem... concession booked and open for the next hunters, that brings it to over 400,000 acres now...left the camera a few days and first night photographed a leopard...
