Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime deal.
Crossing the Pongola river after a long days hunting.
IN PURSUIT OF THE HOLY GRAIL KUDU!
In 2014 our client shot his 1st Kudu it measured 53" which is in any hunters eyes a perfect kudu.
In 2019 our client booked his first safari with TOM DREYER SAFARIS. One of his animals on his list was a big kudu.
Last year he got a 55" Kudu while hunting buffalo on one of our concessions bordering Kruger National Park.
When our client was in our booth this year in Nashville he told us he really wants a 60" Kudu. Immediately we told him that is one of the most difficult trophies to get when hunting open areas and not breeding camps.
2 Months before his arrival we started scouting the areas in the Waterberg mountains, putting up trail cameras at salt licks and waterholes. We photographed quite a good number of big bulls but none that had us convinced. Eventually we photographed 2 bulls that we knew would be in the 60" range.
When our client arrived we focused on ticking his other trophies that he successfully harvested (monster eland, 45" Buffalo and a 29" Roan). When we started the pursuit for the Grey ghost the mountains quickly got the respect it so much deserves and we were left with a choice of either building brush blinds at the different salt licks or driving up and down the mountains. We went for the blind option as our client's body was getting hammered by all the rock driving.
5 Days of sitting in blinds for reasons unknown everything went quite and the big bulls were nowhere to be seen. Eventually we called it on the blinds and went to another concession of ours.
The first day there we passed up numerous big bulls in the 56 - 58" range. We decided it was worth going back there again despite the mountains being extremely hard on our client.
While driving at the foot of the mountain glasing for anything with spiral horns we spotted this bull on the side of the mountain.
Our client made a perfect shot with his 8mm Rem Mag.
When we got to the bull we knew it was definitely north of 58". After we measured it we were ecstatic. 60.5".
3rd Time Lucky.
Beautiful Roan hunted today.
Always a great hunt to hunt these critters.
The high temperatures sure are making it more challenging than normal.
Buffalo tenderloin for dinner!!!
Massive 45" Buffalo hunted by our Premium client. Buffalo hunting always gets the adrenaline pumping.
Hunting kudu in the Waterberg mountains. Land Cruiser is definitely the right tool for the job.

I'd like to announce Tom Dreyer Safaris is now a Craig Boddington Endorsed Outfitter. I was just in Zambia vetting his outfit and it is an impressive wild African experience. Check out his page for a great gallery of trophies and other photos. Take a look at his page on my website to see why I endorse this great outfit.

After long days in meetings and back and forths we finally signed for our hunting area in Zambia.
The Mubambe Conservancy is a community area in the North West of Zambia north of the Kafue National Park.
Being a community area we did a revenue share with them as well as specified community projects and the normal protein share. This way the local people of the area benifits fully from conservation through trophy hunting.
Looking forward to build this area into one of the most prestine areas in Zambia.
Happy to be part of the CBEO family

Hippos are notoriously challenging to hunt. Not only because they spend most of their time in the water but also because of their thick skin, which can be as thick as 5cm (2 inches). Hunting hippo takes skill and guidance from experts such as ourselves. Get in touch today for more information and to hunt with Tom Dreyer Safaris!

It’s always a pleasure hunting a beautiful specimen like the Buffalo. We’ll generally pursue the old Dugga boys past their prime (after the best, most successful and most productive stage). Hunting younger Buffalo in their prime can be problematic, and studies have shown that for “trophy hunting to be considered ecologically and evolutionarily sustainable, it needs to support and sustain wildlife populations without having negative consequences on abundance and genetic diversity over many generations” see the publication linked. Our responsibility in the industry is to ensure we hunt Buffalo that are no longer breeding and have already passed on the genes to avoid artificial population selection. Tom Dreyer Safaris practices ethical hunting that contributes to the conversation of our environment. Read the study on Cape buffalo done here:https://wildlifecollege.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/3-Yasmin-Hall.pdf

A male ostrich should be on your bucket list as a dream trophy. Most hunters prefer hunting males as their feathers are brighter and more aesthetically pleasing than females. You’ll find your perfect ostrich in semi-arid plains and woodlands. They can reach a weight of 95kg (209.4lbs). Interested in hunting your ostrich? Get in touch with Tom at [email protected]

The mighty wildebeest (gnu). Although the wildebeest is one of the plains game, don’t be fooled by their calm and sometimes skittish demeanour. Those horns are pretty deadly and have been known to injure and even seriously kill predators such as lions. The wildebeest is part of the bovine family and are considered big game; male wildebeest can weigh up to 140 to 157 kg (309 to 346 lb). Being out on a hunting safari with Tom Dreyer Safaris means that you get the best of both worlds. While out on a hunt (not for cheetahs), we got to whiteness a pretty special sighting; two cheetahs watching over the landscape and patrolling their territory. Cheetahs sometimes have vast home ranges that span up to about 300 square miles (800 square kilometres). We kept our distance but were fortunate to watch them for a while before carrying on with our hunt. Are you interested in joining us on a hunting safari? Get in touch with Tom at [email protected]

A sight to behold. The red hartebeest is almost a prehistoric-looking animal with a long narrow face, staring goat-like eyes with a tuft of hair under each one, and crooked horns. It is a reddy-brown colouring along its back, a black/brown colour on its face, chin, back of neck, shoulders, thighs and tail, and the lower part of its rump is off-white. They are highly swift runners and can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour and have the stamina to maintain this over a long distance. A pleasure and potentially challenging hunt. Hunting instils discipline, a love of nature, patience and an opportunity to learn about the outdoors (tracks, calls and signs) and also teaches us to appreciate nature as it places us directly in the middle of it. Hunting can also teach critically essential lessons about the value of all life. Today, many kids spend time with media that glamorises violence and cheapens the value of life. Hunting can teach us that all life is essential and sacred. Interested in instilling valuable lessons in your kids and spending quality time together in the African bush?
